Job description

Assistant/Associate Professor of Clinical Surgery (Thoracic Surgery)
Apply
Keck School of Medicine
Faculty
Los Angeles, California

The University of Southern California (USC), founded in 1880, is the largest private employer in the City of Los Angeles. As an employee of USC, you will be a part of a world-class research university and a member of the "Trojan Family," which is comprised of the faculty, students and staff that make the university what it is.

The Division of Thoracic Surgery in the Department of Surgery at the Keck School of Medicine of the University of Southern California is recruiting a faculty member to be a board certified/board eligible (or equivalent) Assistant/Associate Professor of Clinical Surgery. General thoracic surgeons applying for this position must have the skills and interest in general thoracic surgery, exclusively, with an interest and willingness to participate in lung transplantation. The position is part of our expanding Thoracic Surgery Division.

This role will offer the opportunity for the candidate to work closely with all of the members in the Division of Thoracic Surgery. Candidates will be expected to work within the context of multidisciplinary care providers. In this capacity there will be clinical, teaching, administrative, and research expectations. Additional roles and positions will be available commensurate with the growth of the program.

Qualified candidates will be expected to possess advanced skills in thoracic surgery as well as in lung transplantation. Advanced thoracic surgery skills should include familiarity with all minimally invasive approaches for lung, mediastinal, esophageal, and chest wall operations including but not limited to the thoracoscopic, robotic and uniportal platforms. While the Lung Transplant duties will be carried out predominantly at Keck Medical Center, additional thoracic surgery duties will be associated with travel and coverage of other hospitals in the greater Los Angeles and surrounding areas.

Qualified applicants must be Board Certified or Board Eligible in Thoracic Surgery or must be an equivalent status if anything from outside of the United States.

Interested candidates should contact Ms. Maria Villarreal on behalf of Dr. Anthony Kim at maria.villarreal@med.usc.edu

The University of Southern California strongly values diversity and is committed to equal opportunity in employment. Women and men, and members of all racial and ethnic groups, are encouraged to apply.
