Qualifications

Job description

The Department of Accounting and Finance in the Austin E. Cofrin School of Business at the University of Wisconsin-Green Bay seeks applicants for a tenure-track position in Finance (Financial Planning) at the Assistant or Associate Professor level.

The Cofrin School of Business is building a distinctive financial planning program that integrates outstanding teaching, applied student learning, scholarship, professional engagement, and community impact. The successful candidate will join a growing program supported by the Charles Schwab Foundation Center for Financial Wellness and Willie D. Davis Finance & Investment Laboratory, providing exceptional opportunities to connect financial planning education with experiential learning, industry engagement, and community service.

The Cofrin School of Business prioritizes teaching excellence, learner success, quality scholarship, engagement with the regional business community, and meaningful institutional, community, and professional service. Professional experience in financial planning, wealth management, finance, or related areas is viewed favorably. Competitive compensation commensurate with qualifications and experience.

This position is exempt from the overtime provisions of the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA).

Required Qualifications
  • Earned doctorate in Personal Financial Planning, Finance, or Business with a specialization in Finance from an institution supporting an AACSB accredited business school by the end of the first academic year. Candidates who have not completed their doctorate by the start date will be hired into a terminal appointment at the rank of Instructor with a rate determined at the time of hire. Upon degree conferral, the title will change to Assistant Professor. The contract will not be renewed if the degree is not conferred by the end of the terminal appointment.
  • Evidence of a commitment to quality teaching
  • An ongoing record of scholarship, including peer-reviewed journal publications, consistent with the level of experience
  • CFP certification, or ability to sit for the CFP Board’s CFP® Certification Examination by the end of the second academic year
  • Evidence of engagement in institutional, community, and professional endeavors
Conditions of Appointment

The home campus of this positionis Green Bay. Courses will be taught both face-to-face and online (in asynchronous and synchronous formats). The specific courses taught may vary from semester to semester.

Position is an academic year, tenure-track appointment. Applicants must be considered for tenure and promotion in six years, although tenure decisions may be at any time. Promotion from Assistant to Associate Professor is simultaneous with tenure. Excellence in teaching, sustained scholarly activity, and institutional service required for retention and promotion. A pre-employment education check which includes, but is not limited to, the verification of academic credentials will be conducted on the finalist(s). A criminal conviction investigation will be conducted on the finalist(s). In compliance with the Wisconsin Fair Employment Act, the university does not discriminate on the basis of arrest or conviction record.In addition, if the final selected candidate has prior work history within the last 7 years with Universities of Wisconsin, a personnel file review check for employee misconduct will be completed.

In addition, eligible employees receive several types of paid leave benefits, which are prorated for employees working less than 100%. This includes 9 legal holidays, 36 hours of personal holiday and between 96-130 hours of sick leave annually and paid parental leave.
