Assistant/Associate Professor – Wildlife Ecology

Department: Wildlife Ecology and Conservation (WEC), IFAS

Responsibilities

This 12‑month position involves teaching 60% (College of Agricultural and Life Sciences) and research 40% (Florida Agricultural Experiment Station). The faculty member is expected to deliver 3–4 courses each year, including Wetland Wildlife Ecology, Wildlife of Florida, and Wildlife of Florida Lab, with additional courses such as Wildlife Habitat Management or Wildlife Techniques as appropriate. The faculty member will support undergraduate and graduate education, chair and serve on graduate student committees, supervise thesis and dissertation research, supervise undergraduate research, and publish with graduate students. The assignment will conduct applied research on the conservation and management of coastal wetlands, especially in the Florida panhandle; the successful candidate must develop an externally funded research program, focusing on wetland/coastal wildlife species, restoration, global change impacts, ecosystem services, and international conservation.

Qualifications

A doctorate (or foreign equivalent) in Wildlife Ecology or a closely related discipline is required, with research interests in applied coastal ecology and wetland wildlife. Candidates should have strong teaching and research experience, the ability to communicate with diverse audiences, and a proven record of obtaining extramural funding. Candidates must support the land‑grant mission and commit to UF core values. Postdoctoral experience is desirable.
