Job description

Job Title: Assistant, Associate, or Full Professor - Medical Oncology

The University of Minnesota College of Veterinary Medicine (UMN-CVM) is seeking a board-certified or board-eligible Medical Oncologist (ACVIM or ECVIM) to join our Oncology team. As part of the Animal Cancer Care and Research Program, you'll contribute to clinical care, research, training, and teaching in a collaborative academic setting. UMN-CVM offers an environment conducive to professional growth.

Position: This is a full-time (100% appointment) faculty position at the rank of Assistant, Associate, or Full Professor, with options for tenure-track or clinical track. Salary and rank are commensurate with experience.

Responsibilities:

  1. Engage in ongoing professional development to support the mission of the CVM, with flexible allocation of time for clinical service, teaching, and research based on interests.
  2. Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to provide clinical service and training within the Veterinary Medical Center.
  3. Mentor and teach house officers, graduate students, and DVM students.
  4. Participate in independent and collaborative research to advance Comparative Oncology.
  5. Contribute to service activities within the CVM and veterinary organizations.

Clinical Opportunities:

  • Work in a large teaching hospital with diverse specialty disciplines.
  • Utilize state-of-the-art equipment including MRI, CT scanner, interventional radiology suite, and linear accelerator.
  • Engage in an integrated Medical and Radiation Oncology service in spacious facilities.
  • Manage a diverse caseload from a broad referral base, supporting clinical trials and care demands.
  • Participate in research collaborations within UMN, including the Masonic Cancer Center and Translational Working Groups.
  • Access support for clinical studies through the Clinical Investigation Center.
  • Join national consortia like CORC, Big Ten Cancer Research Consortium, and COTC.
  • Benefit from training in grant writing and funding opportunities.

Teaching and Professional Development:

  • Contribute to training residents, DVM students, and house officers.
  • Receive support for teaching and leadership development from CVM resources.
  • Engage in professional growth activities, including mentorship and training in leadership, communication, DEI, among others.
  • Participate in research seminars, journal clubs, and interest groups.
  • Work in a supportive environment promoting work-life balance.
