Job summary

The Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology at the University of California, Davis Health System seeks a full-time Complex Family Planning Specialist at the Assistant or Associate Professor rank in the Health Sciences Clinical Professor series.

The ideal candidate will provide approximately 50% complex family planning and 50% general obstetrics/gynecology services, with clinical duties across Sacramento health campus and affiliated sites.

Qualifications

• MD/DO degree with fellowship in Complex Family Planning.
• Complex Family Planning Fellowship completed or in progress.
• Experience supervising fellows, residents, and medical students.
• Board certification or eligibility in OB/GYN.
• Licensed to practice medicine in California (or eligible).

Responsibilities

• Provide 50% complex FP and 50% general obstetrics/gynecology clinical care.
• Oversee medical students, residents, and fellows.
• Mentor residents and fellows as part of residency/fellowship programs.
• Travel to contracted sites as needed and participate in required call coverage.

Job description

The Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology at the University of California, Davis Health System seeks to recruit a full-time Complex Family Planning Specialist. The position will be recruited at the Assistant or Associate Professor rank in the Health Sciences Clinical Professor series based on experience and qualifications. At the University of California, Davis, we strive to attract, select, retain, and develop a diverse and talented workforce who will contribute to the university's mission and vision. We are looking for motivated persons to join our division with eight fellowship trained faculty, an active complex family planning fellowship program, a high-volume tertiary level abortion and contraception clinical care program, and a robust research portfolio with NIH, industry, and foundation funding.

Chosen candidate must have flexibility clinically as clinical work includes approximately 50% complex family planning and 50% general obstetrics and gynecology and may change in the future depending on the clinical needs of the division. Complex family planning clinical duties include providing services on the Sacramento health campus and contracted work with local/regional freestanding reproductive healthcare facilities or associated programs at partner hospitals. Candidate must have experience with advanced procedural abortion. General obstetric and gynecologic duties include provision of outpatient services. Required call coverage includes in-house obstetric call and at-home complex family planning and general obstetrics/gynecology back-up call.

Candidate will be responsible for oversight of medical students, residents, and fellows for issues related to family planning and general obstetrics and gynecology and will be expected to provide mentorship as part of a formal residency and fellowship training program in complex family planning. Participation in a family planning research program to include federal, industry and foundation funding is optional.

Applicants must have the ability to work cooperatively and collegially within a diverse environment and be able to adhere to policies and procedures. Applicants must be willing to travel to local/regional contracted sites and have flexibility as weekly schedules vary depending on needed coverage of required complex family planning services at Sacramento health campus and contracted sites. This recruitment is conducted at the assistant/associate rank and the resulting hire will be at the assistant/associate rank. Salary and level of appointment will be based upon experience and qualifications.

• M.D. or D.O. degree
• Clinical care specializing in Complex Family Planning
• Applicants must be completing or have completed a Complex Family Planning Fellowship
• Clinical experience specializing in family planning and have formal research training through a Fellowship, MPH, PhD or similar degree
• Applicants should have or be eligible to obtain a California Medical License
• Applicants must have experience with training fellows, residents, and medical students
• Board Certified or Board Eligible in Obstetrics and Gynecology
• Ability to work cooperatively and collegially in a diverse academic environment
