The Department of Pharmacy Practice and Clinical Research at the University of Rhode Island (URI) is seeking a distinguished applicant to fill one full-time 9-month tenure-track open-rank Assistant / Associate / Full Professor of Pharmacy position beginning September 1, 2025. We are searching for an established, applied scholar and educator with expertise and a significant track record of extramural research grants in the field of infectious disease or immunology and related subspecialties (excluding cancer immunology) who will implement a program of research that is complementary to the individual’s expertise and the College’s mission. The successful applicant will also contribute to the University’s teaching mission and participate in service activities.

Essential Duties And Responsibilities

  • Establish and maintain a robust program of original research germane to pharmacy and health with sustained extramural funding.
  • Maintain a high level of scholarly activity as evidenced by peer-reviewed publications and presentations at national and international meetings, in further progression of the individual’s field of specialty.
  • Contribute to the Doctor of Pharmacy and graduate teaching missions of the University by mentoring and teaching graduate, professional degree, and undergraduate courses for the college.
  • Serve on college and University committees.

Other Duties And Responsibilities

  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

REQUIRED:

  • Doctor of Pharmacy degree from an ACPE accredited college/university (and eligible for pharmacist licensure in Rhode Island) with additional research-based degrees (e.g., Master of Public Health, Master of Science, Doctor of Philosophy) and/or training (e.g., research-based fellowships or other post-doctoral research training or experience); or Doctor of Philosophy (PhD), Doctor of Medicine (MD), Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (DO) and/or other health-related doctorates, with expertise in a pharmacy specialty by time of appointment.
  • Substantial clinical expertise and research success in either A.) Infectious diseases and therapeutics, including specialization areas such as bacteriology, infectious disease immunology, mycology, parasitology, preventive therapies, resistance, vector-borne diseases, virology/COVID, or zoonotic diseases; or B.) Immunology, with specialization in autoimmune disease, dermatology, hypersensitivity disorders, infectious disease immunology, neuroimmunology, organ transplantation, primary immunodeficiencies, reproductive immunology, or rheumatology. We are not seeking applicants with expertise in tumor immunology or cancer therapeutics at this time.
  • Record of outstanding scholarship, research productivity, and current or recent substantial extramural funding commensurate with experience.
  • Substantial evidence of teaching effectiveness in a College of Pharmacy environment.
  • Demonstrated ability to work with diverse groups/populations.

Preferred

  • Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD) or Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) degree.
  • Longstanding experience in classroom and/or clinical teaching with priority given to those with evidence of teaching quality and innovations.
  • Associate or full professor level candidates should demonstrate sustained extramural grant support and research productivity, as well as teaching proficiency that meet the criteria for tenure and rank at the University of Rhode Island College of Pharmacy, Department of Pharmacy Practice and Clinical Research.
