Assistant/Associate Dean of Clinical Programs

Description

The Forsyth School of Dental Hygiene seeks a full-time faculty member to deliver high-quality learning experiences and education for students. The faculty member will engage in teaching, service, and scholarship activities, working collaboratively with colleagues across the University and with the Assistant/Associate Dean for Clinical Programs. The incumbent provides mentorship to students and contributes to the visibility, impact, and reputation of the University through research and scholarly engagement. Responsibilities include teaching Clinic and Didactic courses to Undergraduate students, including topics such as Periodontology, Clinic, and Process of Care. Rank and salary will be commensurate with education and experience.

Requirements
  • Entry-level dental hygiene degree from a CODA-accredited school.
  • Ph.D. or equivalent doctorate preferred; Master’s degree in dental hygiene or related field with educational methodology background.
  • Current dental hygiene licensure (clinical and local anesthesia permit) or eligibility for MA state licensure.
  • Minimum of five years’ clinical experience as a registered dental hygienist, preferably in periodontal practice.
  • At least three years of experience in an administrative role coordinating clinical teaching or education in a dental hygiene program.
  • Excellent managerial abilities to direct, implement, and evaluate clinical curriculum.
  • Strong communication, organization, planning, team-building, and faculty development skills.
  • Record of scholarly publications and professional accomplishments suitable for appointment at the associate professor or professor level, with potential for ongoing professional development.
  • Periodontal instrumentation skills and knowledge related to assessment, diagnosis, and treatment planning.
  • Knowledge of CODA standards related to clinical curriculum.
  • Proficiency with computer software such as Dentrix, Word, Excel, Dexis.
  • Clear verbal and written communication skills.
Physical Requirements
  • Sitting, standing, and walking during classroom instruction.
  • Ability to stand for 2-4 hours and perform diagnostic and therapeutic procedures.
  • Sufficient motor function to care for patients, with or without assistive devices.
  • Ability to use technology such as typing and mouse manipulation.
  • Ability to lift and carry up to 10 lbs.
