MCPHS University seeks a full-time faculty member for the Forsyth School of Dental Hygiene, responsible for delivering high-quality education to undergraduate students. The role involves teaching, providing mentorship, and engaging in scholarly activities. The Forsyth School of Dental Hygiene seeks a full-time faculty member to deliver high quality learning experiences and education for students in the Forsyth School of Dental Hygiene. The faculty member will engage in teaching, service and scholarship activities, and works collaboratively with colleagues across the University as well as with the Assistant/Associate Dean for Clinical Programs. Additionally, the incumbent provides mentorship to students and contributes to the visibility, impact and reputation of the University and its programs through research and scholarly engagement. The selected candidate will have responsibilities teaching Clinic and Didactic courses to Undergraduate students. Subject matters may include Periodontology, Clinic and Process of Care. Rank and salary will be commensurate with education and experience.
Required:
• Entry-level dental hygiene degree from a CODA accredited school.
• Ph.D. or equivalent doctorate preferred and a Master's degree in dental hygiene or related field with background in educational methodology.
• Current dental hygiene licensure (clinical and local anesthesia permit) or eligible for MA state licensure.
• A minimum of five years' clinical experience as registered dental hygienist, preferably with experience in periodontal practice.
• A minimum of three years of experience in an administrative role coordinating clinical teaching and/or clinical education in a dental hygiene program.
• Must have excellent managerial ability to direct, implement, and conduct ongoing evaluation of clinical curriculum.
• Must demonstrate excellent knowledge and skills in communication, organization, planning, teambuilding, and faculty development.
• Record of scholarly publication and professional accomplishments meriting appointment at the associate professor or professor level, and potential for continued professional development.
• Periodontal instrumentation skills and knowledge related to assessment, diagnosis, and treatment planning.
• Knowledge of CODA standards relating to the clinical curriculum.
• Proficiency with computer software including, but not limited to Dentrix, Word, Excel, Dexis.
• Clear verbal and written communication skills.
Physical Requirements:
• Work requires sitting, standing and walking as part of classroom instruction.
• In addition to being able to stand for 2-4 hour periods of time, must have the ability to participate in basic diagnostic and therapeutic maneuvers and procedures in the process of dental hygiene care is required.
• Candidates must have sufficient motor function to execute movements reasonably required to properly care for all patients.
• Candidates must be able to perform motor functions with or without assistive devices
• Must be able to use technology, such as typing and manipulating a mouse/mouse pad
• Must be able to lift and carry up to 10 lbs.
