Summary
The Assistant Age Group coach will work under the supervision of the Director of Competitive Swimming and Age Group Coordinator. He or she will assist the lead group coach in conducting practices for our age group swimmers (aged 12 & under).
Duties & Responsibilities
- Attend all practices, generally 5:15-7:30pm daily, as well as Saturday morning
- Help to implement practice plan of lead group coach, and provide support and feedback to swimmers
- Attend swim meets as designated (approximately 1-2x weekends per month)
- Utilize technology to provide video feedback—including ipad and underwater video
- Introduce and lay the foundation of the core values of: Caring, Honesty, Respect and Responsibility
- Be cognizant of swimmer/youth development as needed for each swimmer in a group environment.
- Participate in team social and community service events as needed.
- Must be at least 21 years of age
- Certifications Required: USA Swimming Certified Coach, Safety Training for Swim Coaches, CPR/Lifeguarding/First Aid
- Advanced knowledge in practical, theoretical and psychological concepts of competitive swimming
- An understanding of age and gender characteristics of children and adolescent development
- Be able to work independently and professionally
- Be able to exercise proper judgment when dealing with swim team members and parents
- Knowledge of Colorado Timing Systems set-up, breakdown, and operation highly preferred
