Assistant Administrator II
Compensation: $41.27/Hour $85,841/Annually
Job Description
As an Assistant Administrator II with the Sallisaw State Veterans Home, you will enjoy:

BASIC PURPOSE
This classification is assigned duties and responsibilities for entry to career level management involving the daily operation of a long-term health care facility and assisting in the overall administration at one of the state veterans centers. This includes managing, coordinating or directing administrative or operational departments, programs, and support services of the center. Serves as the second assistant administrator and acts as facility licensed administrator in the absence of the Administrator and Assistant Administrator II.
Typical Functions
The functions will vary by level, but may include the following:
- Assists in the direction of the operation of a state veterans center in providing long term health care and quality medical services to eligible veterans; develops goals, operation plans and work programs; evaluates compliance.
- Plans and directs programs including, but not limited to, administrative services, safety and security, risk management, medical records, facility services (laundry/housekeeping/dietary), regulatory compliance, quality improvement, training/in-service, social services, and recreational activities ensuring compliance with all applicable agency policies and procedures and state and federal rules, regulations and laws.
- Determines staffing requirements, reviews programs activities and expenditures to ensure compliance with budgetary and FTE limits and other requirements and approves various personnel actions acting as the appointing authority in the absence of the Administrator or Assistant Administrator II.
- Coordinates program requirements and operations with other state and federal agencies; negotiates agreements and contracts for goods and services as appropriate; reviews or approves purchases using General Services Administration, Veterans Administration or other federal supply contracts.
- Conducts internal investigations into patient abuse allegations or other investigations/reviews as required.
- Participates in meetings and planning sessions with local, state and federal agencies involving the evaluation and development of agency policies, procedures and regulations; makes recommendations for changes; serves on special committees as required; interprets and administers state and federal guidelines concerning center operations and activities.
- Reviews various inquiries, complaints, problems or other information concerning the operation of the center; formulates or directs the preparation of appropriate responses or other action; answers inquiries referred by the Executive Director or Administrator as required, resolves emergency or unusual incidents or problems as needed while on twenty-four-hour call.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities include knowledge of federal and state laws and regulations concerning administrative procedures, long-term care regulations, various veterans benefits and services; of requirements for eligibility for admission to a veterans center; of procedures for determining allowable maintenance charges and collecting benefits from the federal Veterans administration; and of supervisory principles and practices. Ability is required to direct and coordinate the work of others; to administer programs of a long-term health care facility; to communicate effectively; and to establish and maintain effective working relationships with others.
Education and Experience requirements at this level consist of current licensure as a Nursing Home Administrator in the state of Oklahoma.
Special Requirements include willing and able to fulfill all job-related travel normally associated with this position in addition to being subject to on call duty on a twenty-four-hour basis.
