Kane County Skilled Nursing & Rehabilitation Center is seeking an Assistant Administrator to assist in operational oversight and enhance leadership skills. This role requires a strong understanding of clinical and business aspects in long-term care.
Responsibilities include supporting budget management, ensuring regulatory compliance, managing admissions, and participating in staff recruitment and training.
The Assistant Administrator works closely with the Administrator in overseeing the overall operation of the facility, including resident care, regulatory compliance, financial performance, staffing, employee relations, and day-to-day business operations.
This position is ideal for an experienced long-term care professional who is interested in developing their leadership skills and gaining broader operational experience. The successful candidate will demonstrate excellent time-management and organizational abilities, remain calm and professional in challenging situations, and have a strong understanding of both the clinical and business aspects of skilled nursing and long-term care.
Partner with the Administrator in overseeing the daily operations of the facility and supporting the achievement of established organizational goals and budgets.
Assist with the development and management of the facility's annual operating budget and help ensure departments remain aligned with financial and operational objectives.
Support census development, accounts receivable and collections, Net Operating Income, resident care, regulatory compliance, employee relations, employee retention, business planning, and implementation of facility programs.
Conduct daily rounds throughout the facility to monitor operations and ensure compliance with facility policies, procedures, safety standards, and applicable regulations.
Help ensure the facility remains in compliance with all applicable local, state, and federal requirements.
Assist with the admissions and placement process for prospective residents, ensuring the facility is able to appropriately address their physical, mental, psychosocial, and financial needs.
Participate in the recruitment, interviewing, and selection process for key positions as requested.
Participate in staff education and training programs and assist with the orientation and onboarding of new employees.
Assist the Administrator and Human Resources representative in addressing employee concerns and complaints in a timely and professional manner.
Reinforce facility policies and procedures and assist with coaching, counseling, and corrective action when appropriate.
Work collaboratively with department leaders and staff to promote quality resident care, regulatory compliance, operational efficiency, and a positive workplace environment.
Support the Administrator with special projects, operational initiatives, and other leadership responsibilities as needed.

Working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel, Outlook, email, and related business systems.
Current Licensed Nursing Home Administrator (LNHA) license in the state where the facility is located preferred/required as applicable.
Bachelor's degree preferred.
Master's degree preferred.
Previous leadership or management experience in a skilled nursing or long-term care setting required.
Demonstrated interest in advancing leadership knowledge and developing expertise in the operational and business aspects of long-term care.
Ability to work a flexible schedule according to facility needs.
Availability to provide on-call support for emergencies and operational needs outside of normal business hours.
Ability to walk throughout the facility, reach, bend, lift, sit for extended periods, grasp, push, pull, and perform fine hand‑coordination activities, with or without the assistance of mechanical devices.
Ability to distinguish odors and temperatures as necessary to perform essential job functions.
Limited potential exposure to environmental hazards. Must understand and consistently follow all applicable facility safety standards, policies, and procedures.
