Job summary

MDHHS is seeking an Eligibility Specialist to strengthen Michigan families by ensuring applicants receive eligible public assistance and by assessing needs and providing referrals. The role also involves informing families about MDHHS goals and helping them move toward self-sufficiency.

The position may work remotely or in a hybrid arrangement, with the first six months in person at Ottawa County MDHHS in Holland, MI.

Responsibilities

• Ensuring that each person/family that applies for public assistance receives the type and level of assistance for which they are eligible
• Assessing the needs of each person/family and providing information and referrals to assist them meeting their needs
• Providing information about the expectations and goals of the Michigan Department of Health and Human Services (MDHHS)
• Encouraging and guiding families toward self-sufficiency

Job description

The role of the Eligibility Specialist is to strengthen Michigan families by:

• Ensuring that each person/family that applies for public assistancereceivesthe type and level of assistance that they are eligible for
• Assessing the needs of each person/family and giving them appropriate information and making any referrals and/or contacts to persons/agencies to help them meet their needs.
• Providing all families with information about the expectations and goals of the Michigan Department of Health and Human Services (MDHHS).
• Encouraging and guiding families in their efforts to become self supporting.

Position Location/Remote Office:

PLEASE READ CAREFULLY. This position may work remotely or work hybrid (remote/office). However, the first 6 months will be 100% in person. After 6 months, a hybrid or remote option may be available.
