Job summary

Nexstar Media's Assignments Editor role is the frontline position for gathering information and assigning stories for KTLA and the LA news operation. You will track stories from agencies, social media, wires, and community groups, and deploy photographers, reporters, and others to cover them.

You will coordinate logistics for newsroom personnel, participate in daily discussions, and push updates on stories while following up on previous ones.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in journalism, or an equivalent combination of education and work-related experience.
• Fluency in English.
• Excellent communication skills, both oral and written.
• Minimum two years' experience in news operations.
• Proficiency with computers, telephones, copiers, scanners, fax machines and other office equipment.
• Ability to meet deadlines, prioritize assignments and handle multiple tasks simultaneously.
• Flexibility to work any shift.

Responsibilities

Compensation - $25/hr+ commensurate with skills and experience
