Job Description

NBC News is seeking a highly motivated and experienced Assignment Editor to work in the NY Bureau.

Responsibilities:

1. Coordinate coverage of news stories (breaking and ongoing) with staff, including producers, correspondents, platform partners, and others.
2. Monitor story opportunities in the Northeast region and communicate those opportunities with managers, teams, and platforms.
3. Collaborate effectively with the broadcast news shows, MSNBC, NBC News Now, Digital, NewsChannel, and the affiliates.
4. Coordinate the gathering and distribution of elements for all the platforms.
5. Make calls on breaking and ongoing stories.
6. Research stories using tools like Accurint and Pacer.
7. Pitch story ideas to all the NBC News platforms.
8. Participate in daily conference calls about news coverage.
9. Organize and maintain bureau files, including a list of contacts.
