Job summary

WPLG Miami in Pembroke Park, FL seeks an Assignment Editor to manage the assignment desk, set up interviews, research leads, and coordinate with viewers. You will edit and post stories across multimedia platforms and engage audiences on social channels.

The candidate should have at least 2 years in a news assignment editing role, a journalism or communications degree, and the ability to work under pressure with tight deadlines. Spanish/Creole skills are a plus.

Qualifications

• Minimum 2 years news assignment editor experience.
• A college degree in Journalism, Communications or a related field is preferred.
• Must be able to work well under pressure and deal effectively with last minute deadlines.
• Grasp of Spanish/Creole languages helpful.

• Manning assignment desk in various capacities.
• Setting up interviews and following-up on viewer phone calls.
