Job summary

Goldman Sachs is seeking an Associate for GP Coverage and Sourcing in New York City within the Alternative Investment Platform. The role centers on growth and venture, originating opportunities and maintaining relationships with top managers to serve Wealth Management clients.

You will help lead fundraising efforts, develop marketing materials, and support client portfolio reviews while coordinating across GS teams to deliver thought leadership on private markets.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or higher.
• 3+ years' experience in wealth management, asset management, investment banking, or private equity.
• Deep understanding of financial markets and investment instruments.
• SIE, Series 7, and Series 63 must be obtained within 3 months.
• Strong quantitative, analytical and problem-solving skills.

Responsibilities

• Help establish and manage GS ACM relationships with external managers and coordinate external sales professionals; source, diligence and originate new opportunities.
• Serve as an alternative investment strategist and provide insights on private market trends to clients and internal teams.
• Assist with ACM sales strategy, develop fundraising strategies for different client segments and regions.

Alternative Investment Platform

The Alternative Investment Platform (AIP) is a global team comprised of 100+ alternative investment professionals across 13 global offices. The team is responsible for ~$200B in AUS, serving institutions, foundations, family offices, high net worth and ultra-high net worth individuals for Goldman Sachs Wealth Management. AIP, one of the leading allocators globally, includes the Alternative Capital Markets business, focused on curating a best-in-class alternatives platform and client experience across Goldman Sachs managed and externally managed strategies. The team curates investment opportunities for clients across the alternatives landscape, advises on building alternatives portfolios, and manages discretionary portfolios through our Alternatives Portfolio Services (APS) platform.

GP Coverage and Sourcing

Within AIP, GP Coverage and Sourcing is responsible for leading the origination of alternative investment opportunities for GS Wealth clients. The venture and growth team team focuses on identifying and creating investment strategies including co-investments that meet client demand and address market opportunities by establishing and maintaining relationships with top tier managers. In addition, the team leads the structuring, capital markets and ongoing investor relations for each offering.

HOW YOU WILL FULFILL YOUR POTENTIAL

• Help establish and manage GS ACM relationships with external managers, including new product development and coordination of external sales professionals, as well as source, diligence and originate new alternative investment offerings to meet client demand and address current market opportunities
• Serve as an alternative investment strategist, helping establish GS Wealth house view on current private market trends / opportunities and providing insight to clients and internal GS constituents
• Help provide input on ACM sales strategy across client segments, advising on growth strategies for new offerings / solutions, and develop segment specific fundraising strategies
• Help lead marketing of alternative investment offerings for venture and growth across GS client segments and regions including managing overall fund raising activity, developing marketing collateral / strategy pitch and engaging advisors / clients by organizing road shows / events / campaigns
• Lead client portfolio reviews, including alternative portfolio analysis / implementation guidance, as well as provide performance attribution and fund commentary
• Help drive education of alternative investment themes and portfolio implementation for all GS client segments and regions by coordinating across AIP, GS CIO, GS investment teams and external managers to provide best-in-class thought leadership

SKILLS & EXPERIENCE WE'RE LOOKING FOR

• Bachelors Degree or Higher

• 3+ year's experience in wealth management, asset management, investment banking, or private equity
• Strong quantitative, analytical and problem-solving skills
