Job summary

The United Family is seeking a Security Officer to protect assets and provide a safe shopping environment for our guests and a safe work environment for team members. Responsibilities include deterring shoplifting, performing safety checks, conducting surveillance, and supporting loss-prevention initiatives while following state laws and corporate guidelines.

Qualifications

• Must be 18 years of age or older.
• Commissioned law enforcement officer preferred.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to perform all physical aspects of duties, including bending, standing, lifting, squatting, climbing, walking and occasional running.
• Ability to accept supervisory coaching related to performance, work habits and attitude.
• Ability to function well in pressured situations and make good decisions.
• Ability to learn, use, and operate various computer software programs and other electronic tools.
• Ability to multitask.

Responsibilities

• Acknowledge, greet, and engage every guest.
• Take proactive measures to minimize loss from all sources in the store.
• Follow corporate guidelines and applicable state laws; apprehend guests or team members who commit theft.
• Follow the daily work schedule as assigned by the Asset Protection Officer Manager.
• Conduct surveillance and other investigations as directed by Asset Protection Management.
• Coordinate with Asset Protection management on shrink reduction programs; conduct store-level operational audits, walks, and safety checks.
• Perform other duties as assigned by supervisor.
