Job description

Company Overview

Soltage is an independent power producer (IPP) and a leader in the development, financing, and operation of distributed scale solar and storage assets for commercial, industrial, municipal, and utility customers across the United States. We develop, finance, own and operate our assets for their full operating life. Soltage has developed more than 150 solar energy projects to date, with more than 600 MW total distributed generating capacity in operation or under construction, and has invested over $1.7 Billion to date into the US clean energy sector.

Asset Manager - Renewable Energy

Soltage is seeking an experienced Asset Manager to take full ownership of a dedicated book of solar and storage assets across every stage of the asset management lifecycle, from onboarding during construction through the full course of operations. The Asset Manager is accountable for their portfolio of assets, ensuring that each project's revenue and expenses stay aligned with approved budgets, and serves as the first line of defense in spotting and managing the profitability of the assets. The Asset Manager works closely with Project Management, Engineering, and Operations to usher each asset through construction and into commercial operation, including applying for and securing applicable grants and incentives and ensuring revenue contracts are in place at the Commercial Operation Date (COD). The role also carries ongoing responsibility for tracking compliance, rebate and subscription programs across the portfolio. This role requires a working command of the power and environmental commodity markets in which Soltage’s assets operate, strong Excel and financial analysis skills, and the judgment to think like an owner and arrive with well-formed recommendations.

Job Responsibilities
  • Own the full asset management lifecycle for a dedicated portfolio of approximately 40–50 MW of solar and storage assets, beginning with onboarding during construction and continuing through commercial operation and steady-state performance.
  • Lead the onboarding of newly financed solar and storage assets during construction, coordinating with Accounting, Project Management, Engineering, and Operations to track key milestones, documents, and data needed for a smooth transition into commercial operation.
  • Own the Commercial Operation Date (COD) process for assigned assets, including applying for and securing applicable grants and incentives, confirming that offtake agreements and arrangements are properly executed and in place, and ownership of all compliance related items.
  • Serve as the point of accountability for the financial and operational performance of assigned assets, ensuring revenue and expenses stay aligned with approved budgets and owning associated outcomes.
  • Act as the first line of defense in spotting and managing the profitability of each asset, using strong Excel and financial analysis skills to turn underlying data into a clear, current view of performance.
  • Track and interpret developments in the power, capacity, and environmental commodity markets relevant to the portfolio, and adjust strategy and recommendations as market conditions shift.
  • Lead variance analysis against approved budgets, diagnosing root causes and driving the corrective actions needed to protect and grow profitability.
  • Track and manage rebate and subscription programs (e.g., net metering, community solar subscriptions, and state or utility incentive programs) across the portfolio, ensuring filings and renewals stay current.
  • Own day-to-day compliance for assigned assets, partnering with Legal on contractual, regulatory, and reporting obligations.
  • Track O&M provider and counterparty performance against the cost and performance assumptions underlying each asset's approved budget, flagging variances to the responsible owner.
  • Manage the commercial terms of contracts affecting asset performance, bringing a point of view and a recommendation rather than simply flagging an issue.
  • Present asset and portfolio performance - including key drivers, risks, and opportunities - to internal leadership, backed by analysis.
  • Lead process improvements that strengthen how the Asset Management team tracks and manages portfolio performance.
  • Mentor and provide guidance to Junior Asset Managers.
  • Perform additional responsibilities as assigned.
Experience And Education Requirements
  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Business, Economics, Engineering, or a related field.
  • 3–7 years of experience in asset management, portfolio management, corporate or project finance within the renewable energy, power, or infrastructure sector, with direct, hands‑on ownership of asset‑level financial performance.
  • Strong Excel and financial analysis skills, with the ability to quickly diagnose the drivers behind a project's revenue, expenses, and profitability.
  • Strong understanding of the power, capacity, and environmental commodity markets relevant to Soltage’s portfolio, and the ability to translate market developments into financial and commercial strategy.
  • Working knowledge of project financing structures (tax equity, partnership flips, inverted leases, non‑recourse debt) and comfort navigating transaction and financing documents.
  • Comfort managing cross‑functional workstreams with Project Management, Engineering, Operations, and Legal, particularly during an asset's transition from construction to commercial operation.
  • Demonstrated ability to independently own and manage a multi‑asset portfolio (40+ MW) with minimal oversight, driving outcomes rather than escalating them.
  • Strong commercial judgment and negotiation skills, with experience managing counterparties and contracts.
  • Excellent written, verbal, and presentation skills, with the ability to represent portfolio performance and strategy to internal leadership.
  • Familiarity with rebate, incentive, or compliance program administration (e.g., net metering, community solar, state or utility incentive programs) is a plus.
  • Experience in renewable energy, particularly solar and storage, is a strong plus.
