Job summary

Mission Housing Development Corporation in San Francisco seeks an Asset Manager to oversee the portfolio's financial health and operations, acting as Owner's Representative. The role emphasizes rigorous financial analysis, budget oversight, and collaboration with property teams.

The ideal candidate has strong Excel skills, is experienced in asset management or affordable housing, and can coordinate with MHDC’s Asset Management and Property Management groups to maintain portfolio viability.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in real estate, finance, or related field preferred.
• Experience in affordable housing required.
• At least 1 year in asset management and/or property management, preferably in affordable housing or multifamily real estate with exposure to commercial real estate.
• CPM or CHAM designation strongly preferred.
• Strong MS Excel skills and familiarity with property management software (YARDI).

Responsibilities

• Creates, reviews and approves annual property management budgets in collaboration with Property Management.
• Ensures property conditions and operations meet MHDC standards for health, safety, and long-term portfolio stability.
• Meets reporting requirements and inquiries from regulatory and financing partners.
• Monitors operating results, analyzes variances, and suggests improvements.
• Reads and interprets financial statements and audits to improve property performance and cashflow.
• Identifies and manages properties on watch/critical list.
• Manages capital needs assessments and capital plans.
• Leads lease negotiations and lease execution as applicable.
• Works with Asset Management team and other departments to find solutions.
