  • Proficient computer skills: Word, Excel, PowerPoint.

Responsibilities

  • Manages and coordinates the sale of real property for wards, including property checks until sale.
  • Coordinates and obtains appraisal of real property over $50,000 and personal property for wards in Guardianship.
  • Manages sale of personal property including contents of real property, jewelry, automobiles, etc.
  • Performs title searches for referrals to guardianship to determine property ownership.
  • Prepares Affidavits of Heirship for title clearance.
  • Maintains asset transaction records and reporting to management.
  • Develops and updates Asset Management processes and provides staff training.

Harris County Resources for Children and Adults was founded in 1966 as The Harris County Child Welfare Board to provide support services for children taken under the wing of the Texas Department of Family and Protective Services. Fifty years later, Harris County Resources for Children and Adults still provides this support. But the now-county department has expanded services for early prevention, intervention, and adult services.

Asset Management Coordinator Overview

Under the supervision of the Asset Control and Accountability Manager, works closely with the Harris County Resources for Adult Services Division – Guardianship Program to research, assess, and evaluate the assets of wards receiving services through the Guardianship Program. collaborates with internal and external entities regarding the management of the ward’s assets.

Duties & Responsibilities
  • Manages and coordinates the sale of real property for all wards, including monthly property checks until the property is sold.
  • Coordinates and obtains appraisal of real property with a value of over $50,000 and personal property (as needed) once a ward has entered the Guardianship Program.
  • Manages the sale of personal property, including contents of real property, jewelry, automobiles, and other items not considered real property.
  • Conducts a title search for all referrals for Proposed Wards that come to the Harris County Resources for Children and Adults Guardianship program to determine if they have any ownership in real property.
  • Prepares Affidavits of Heirship when needed by a Title Company to issue a clear title on the sale of a ward’s property.
  • Manages transaction records and documentation related to all assets belonging to wards and provides asset management reports to management.
  • Assists with updates and development of processes and procedures related to Asset Management.
  • Provides Asset Management training to Guardianship staff.

Education
  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Finance, Accounting, Social Sciences, Paralegal Studies, or a closely related field
Experience
  • Minimum two (2) years full-time paid work experience in business administration, real estate, social services or a legal setting.
  • Training and experience using a personal computer with a variety of software, such as Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel, and PowerPoint.
Licensure
  • Reliable transportation with a valid Texas driver’s license and auto liability insurance.

  • Knowledge of county, state, and federal laws, Texas Estates Code, statutes, rules, and standards governing guardianship and asset management guidelines.
  • Skill in empathizing, valuing, and dealing successfully with the special capabilities, distinctive cultural histories, and unique needs of people of various socio-economic, ethnic, and cultural backgrounds.
  • Skill in analyzing, interpreting, and applying Texas Estates Code and Guardianship Standards.
  • Skill in self-discipline, dependability, and ability to work independently, manage multiple projects, and prioritize multiple tasks and demands to accomplish outcomes.
  • Maintains the highest standards of ethical behavior, exercising honesty and integrity, respect, confidentiality, and fairness in the execution of their official responsibilities.
  • Establishes and maintains effective relationships with residential facilities, care providers, family members, benefit carriers, government officials and departments, community partners and resources, and the general public.
