Job summary

McGrath RentCorp is hiring an Asset Maintenance & Inventory Technician (Finance) to support yard operations, inventory management and on-site field service. The role requires working outdoors, operating a forklift, basic carpentry, electrical work and painting, with emphasis on safety and accurate inventory records.

The ideal candidate has 2–3 years in a construction yard, forklift experience, good computer skills and a proactive, independent work ethic.

Qualifications

• 2-3 years experience in a construction yard work environment.
• Forklift experience is required.
• Basic computer experience is required.
• Strong mechanical aptitude; preferred repair experience on containers, vans and metal bins.
• Experience in yard operations, paperwork processing, inventory accuracy, basic carpentry and electrical skills.
• Light welding experience and AC troubleshooting ability.

Responsibilities

• Yard organization using forklift to organize containers by size and condition.
• Clean, paint and perform basic upkeep of containers in the yard.
• Support customers with on-site field service calls.
• Maintain and repair containers; basic welding, electrical work, carpentry and painting as needed.
• Ensure inventory readiness at the yard and proper asset check-out/in.
• Inspect and repair various container types and maintain tool inventory.
• Perform basic AC service for office and combo units, including filters and coils.

"What You'll Do"

• Yard organization using forklift to organize containers by size, state of repair
• Cleaning, painting and basic repair/up keep of containers in the yard
• Support customers by doing on site field service calls.
• Light welding and electrical experience, rewiring, switches and outlets; use of power washer and other power tools, general maintenance skills rust remediation; including strong carpentry and painting skills
• Manage the preparation and availability of all container inventory at the yard.
• Inspect, repair and maintain sufficient quantities of all container types.
• Perform basic AC service for office and combo units including filter changes, thermostat replacements and coil cleaning.
• Organize and ensure we have proper building materials inventory levels for container repair.
• Ensure each asset leaving is prepared and quality checked.
• Receive or load assets to/from third party vendors and report activities to Ops Coordinator.
• Maintain Forklift In and Out Logs and other inventory reports and move inventory with forklift.
• Able to work outside in variable weather conditions including high temperature summer months.
• Ability to work independently and have the drive to take the initiative if direct supervision is not available on a constant basis.
• Follow all company guidelines for working safely. Actively participate in safety meetings and initiatives.
• Bi-yearly inventory responsibility.
• Perform other duties as assigned

"Must Haves"

• 2-3 years experience in a construction yard work environment
• Forklift experience
• Basic computer experience
• Strong mechanical aptitude with preferred experience repairing containers, van trailers, and metal waste bins
• Prior experience working in a yard environment, processing paperwork, keeping accurate inventory, basic carpentry and basic electrical ability. light welding experience and AC troubleshooting ability
• Be able to work independently and in a safe and proper manner.
• High-energy, can-do, get-results person with high integrity.
• Valid Drivers License

"Nice to Haves"

• Forklift experience with large, oversize/heavy products preferred

Special Considerations:

• Position requires manual dexterity and the ability to maintain physical activity for most of the day

• Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds and hold or lift a variety of objects
• Able to carry, bend, stoop, turn, kneel, crawl, climb a ladder and other manual labor activities
