Job summary

M. J. Electric, LLC is seeking an Asset Coordinator to manage tool and equipment inventory, ensure timely shipping and receiving to job sites, and coordinate transfers across projects.

You will collaborate with the Regional Asset Manager and project teams to keep operations running smoothly. Ideal candidates bring strong organizational skills, mechanical knowledge, and experience in inventory or fleet management within a construction environment.

Qualifications

  • Solid mechanical/technical knowledge and computer skills.
  • Ability to reorganize priorities and adapt to changes.
  • Experience supervising a mechanic team with shifting priorities.
  • Proven organizational skills and ability to work independently to meet deadlines.
  • Understanding of inventory management concepts.
  • Ability to anticipate and meet internal customer needs.
  • Education beyond high school is preferred.
  • Minimum 3+ years in Inventory or Fleet Management in construction.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate activities to maintain tool and equipment inventory.
  • Ensure timely shipping/receiving of orders to job sites.
  • Work with Regional Asset Manager on equipment and tooling needs.
  • Deliver assets to field operations promptly.
  • Transfer and track equipment and tools between projects.
  • Maintain organized warehouse and staging areas.
  • Train personnel on Tool & Equipment policies and procedures.
  • Communicate with Tool Control & Leasing on transfers, repairs, obsolescence.

About this Role – Asset Coordinator

We are looking for a talented Asset Coordinator that has a passion for quality construction. This position is responsible for coordinating the activities involved with maintaining our tool and equipment inventory, along with the timely shipping and receiving of tool and equipment orders to job sites.

What You’ll Do
  • Work with the Regional Asset Manager to support project equipment and tooling needs.
  • Assure that field operations receive proper assets in a timely matter
  • Coordinate the delivery and transfer of equipment and tools.
  • Track and monitor asset (equipment, tools) usage
  • Analyze and develop logistics plans that may affect operations, equipment distribution and tool inventory
  • Works with Project Managers and General Foreman to demobilize at the end of a project
  • Perform physical inventory of tools coming into warehouse. Make transfer of tools on and off projects within the MJ System
  • Ensure sure warehouse/equipment staging areas are organized and well maintained.
  • Effectively communicate and train MJE personnel regarding Tool & Equipment policies, procedures, systems and processes
  • Maintain effective communications with Tool Control & Leasing in Iron Mountain, coordinate tool and equipment transfers, scraping, obsolescing, repairs, etc.
  • Performs warehouse work such as unloading and loading trucks, stocking shelves, operating a forklift and maintaining inventories

  • Solid mechanical/technical knowledge and computer skills
  • Ability to organize work to allow for constant reprioritization and adapt to changes
  • Ability to supervise a group of mechanics who will have a constantly evolving set of work priorities
  • Proven organizational skills with the ability work independently and meet deadlines
  • A solid understanding of inventory management concepts
  • Ability to anticipate and meet internal customer needs
  • High School Diploma or Equivalent (Education beyond High School preferred)
  • 3+ years of Inventory or Fleet Management experience in a construction environment
  • Thorough knowledge of equipment and tooling used in the construction and maintenance of overhead transmission, overhead distribution, and substation projects
