Job summary

General Dynamics Information Technology, Inc. in Martinsburg, WV seeks an Asset Analyst to manage VA IT asset lifecycles, maintain compliance, and enable enterprise visibility across CNS assets nationwide.

Responsibilities include tracking assets, using ServiceNow/CMDB/RFID tools, coordinating logistics, and auditing inventory while supporting disposition and audits. Onsite work and Public Trust readiness are required.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Support the VA’s IT Asset Management (ITAM) program across gateways, data centers, VA facilities, and CNS-managed environments by following VA ITAM SOPs and maintaining compliance with VA policy requirements.
• Track, manage, and maintain IT asset lifecycle activities—including receipt, tagging, barcoding, storage, deployment, relocation, decommission, and disposal.
• Use VA’s suite of ITAM tools (ServiceNow, RFID systems, CMDB, iTRACS, Maximo) to update asset records, maintain inventory accuracy, and automate ITAM workflows.
• Support logistics operations including shipping, receiving, warehouse coordination, RMA processing, hardware returns, and audit documentation.
• Conduct annual inventory audits and validate asset records such as make, model, serial number, barcode, location, assigned custodian, service dates, and lifecycle status.
• Perform media sanitization activities compliant with VA Handbook 6500.2 and support disposal workflows for end‑of‑life equipment.
• Respond to ITAM service requests, resolve asset‑related tickets, and update all related records in VA ServiceNow.
• Produce Monthly Asset Management Reports including received assets, decommissioned assets, lifecycle status, updates to hardware inventory lists, issues, work completed, and planned work.
• Assist with certification and accreditation (FISMA/ATO) audits by providing accurate asset documentation, inventory evidence, and policy compliance artifacts.
• Provide continuous improvement recommendations for ITAM processes, documentation, automation, and enterprise inventory accuracy.
• Maintain visibility and accountability of all CNS‑owned and VA‑provided equipment, ensuring accurate tracking across multiple VA locations.
• Work closely with VA NOC and CNS engineering teams to ensure asset records remain accurate when equipment is deployed, upgraded, replaced, or moved.

GDIT is partnering with the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) to modernize and secure the enterprise network that supports millions of Veterans nationwide. As an Asset Analyst, you will play a critical role in strengthening VA’s IT Asset Management (ITAM) program across Core Network Services (CNS). You will help ensure every asset—from routers and switches to data‑center hardware and mission‑critical IT components is accurately tracked, compliant, secure, and properly managed throughout its lifecycle.

In this role, you will manage VA’s enterprise asset repositories, ensure compliance with VA policy, support logistics operations, maintain lifecycle documentation, and enable accurate enterprise visibility across thousands of IT assets located in gateways, data centers, and VA facilities nationwide. You will collaborate with engineering teams, data center operations, NOC personnel, and logistics officers to maintain real‑time accountability of government‑owned equipment and support modernization efforts across the CNS environment.

Your work will directly contribute to improved service reliability, reduced operational risk, stronger compliance, and enhanced enterprise‑wide asset intelligence.

This role will require you to obtain and maintain Public Trust Suitability and will require you to provide onsite fingerprinting at a designated facility. This investigation may review personal and criminal behavior, financial conduct, foreign influence, as well as other adjudications.

What You’ll Do

What You’ll Need

• HS Diploma and 4+ YOE, Associates and 2+ YOE, relevant certifications
• Experience with IT Asset Management processes, tools, or federal ITAM programs
• Familiarity with ServiceNow, CMDB records, RFID tools, or logistics management systems
• Experience conducting audits, inventory management, lifecycle tracking, or hardware control documentation
• Strong organizational, analytical, and documentation skills
• Ability to interpret policy, SOPs, and compliance requirements
• Ability to collaborate with technical teams, logistics officers, and federal stakeholders
• Strong communication skills and attention to detail

Preferred (Not Required)

• ITAM or ITIL certifications
• Experience supporting federal agencies or enterprise‑scale IT infrastructure
• Familiarity with NIST, FISMA, ATO processes, or VA Handbook 6500
• Experience with VA asset management tools (RFID, Maximo, iTRACS, ServiceNow CMDB)
