Tampa General Behavioral Health Hospital, operated jointly with Lifepoint Health and Tampa General Hospital, seeks an Assessment Specialist (RN) for night shifts in Tampa, FL. You will lead initial assessments, coordinate admissions, and communicate with physicians to determine level of care.

We value empathy, accuracy, and strong customer service as you navigate pre-admission and follow-up activities, with CPI and CPR requirements and a commitment to high-quality patient care.

Formación

• Associates degree in Nursing required; Master's in Social Work or Counseling accepted.
• CPR certification and CPI within 30 days of employment; must be 21+ years old.
• Experience in psychiatric health care facility preferred; familiarity with chemical dependency, dual diagnosis, geriatric patients.

Responsabilidades

• Facilitates response to requests for services, initial assessment and admission process.
• Documents patient symptoms, functioning and needs; informs MD for LOC determination.
• Engages with patients, physicians, visitors and staff with empathy and respect; maintain preadmission paperwork and insurance pre-certifications.
• Performs comprehensive nursing assessments and monitors patient condition with timely escalation to physician.

How you'll contribute

An Assessment Specialist (RN) who excels in this role:

• Facilitates response to a request for services, including the initial response, the assessment, the referral process, the designation of the appropriate level of care, admission into services, and appropriate follow-up activity.
• Conducts initial evaluation, initiates the assessment, documents patient symptomology, functioning, and needs, and provides information to MD for LOC determination.
• Demonstrates excellent customer service skills in assisting patients, physicians, visitors, and coworkers promptly and courteously.
• Possess clear knowledge of Emergency Detention paperwork and processes and EMTALA.
• Maintains all preadmission and admission paperwork with accuracy and completes all pre-certification with insurance companies.
• Will monitor patient for change of condition and respond accordingly up to and including notification of the physician.
• RN will follow hospital policy for medication administration.
• RN will consistently use empathy, dignity, and respect when interacting with patients.
• Assists/performs comprehensive nursing assessments on all patients.

What we're looking for

• Education: Associate's Degree in Nursing Required or Master's degree in Social Work/Counseling required.
• License: Current clinical, social work, or RN license as required by state regulations.
• Experience: Previous experience in a psychiatric health care facility, with direct experience working with chemical dependency, dual diagnosis, psychiatric and geriatric patients preferred. Experience in patient assessments, family motivations, treatment planning and communication with external review organizations or comparable entities
• CPR certification and Crisis Prevention Training (CPI) within 30 days of employment and prior to any patient contact. Must be at least 21 years of age. Maybe required to work flexible hours and overtime.
