Job summary

Tampa General Behavioral Health Hospital, operated jointly with Lifepoint Health and Tampa General Hospital, seeks an Assessment Specialist for PRN night shifts (7:00 pm–7:30 am) in Tampa, FL. You will assess, coordinate admissions, and support care planning for patients with psychiatric and related needs.

You will facilitate services, document symptoms, support insurance pre-certifications, and maintain preadmission records while delivering compassionate customer service to patients, families,

Qualifications

• Degrees required: ADN or MSW/ Counseling.
• CPR certification required and CPI within 30 days of employment.
• Must be at least 21 years old.
• Experience in a psychiatric health care facility preferred.

Responsibilities

• Facilitates response to requests for services, including assessment, referral, and admission processes.
• Conducts initial evaluation, documents symptoms, and informs MD for LOC determination.
• Maintains preadmission and admission paperwork and assists with insurance pre-certification.

How You'll Contribute

An Assessment Specialist who excels in this role:

• Facilitates response to a request for services, including the initial response, the assessment, the referral process, the designation of the appropriate level of care, admission into services, and appropriate follow-up activity.
• Conducts initial evaluation, initiates the assessment, documents patient symptomology, functioning, and needs, and provides information to MD for LOC determination.
• Demonstrates excellent customer service skills in assisting patients, physicians, visitors, and coworkers promptly and courteously.
• Possess clear knowledge of Emergency Detention paperwork and processes and EMTALA.
• Maintains all preadmission and admission paperwork with accuracy and completes all pre-certification with insurance companies.

What We're Looking For

• Associate's Degree in Nursing Required or Master's degree in Social Work/Counseling required.
• Previous experience in a psychiatric health care facility, with direct experience working with chemical dependency, dual diagnosis, psychiatric and geriatric patients preferred. Experience in patient assessments, family motivations, treatment planning and communication with external review organizations or comparable entities
• CPR certification and Crisis Prevention Training (CPI) within 30 days of employment and prior to any patient contact. Must be at least 21 years of age. Maybe required to work flexible hours and overtime.
