Job summary

Job description

NOCTI/NBS is seeking an Assessment Development Coordinator to support a wide range of assessment development activities across varied programs, partner needs, and technical content areas. In this role, you’ll balance facilitation, project coordination, technical assessment development, and relationship-building, bringing together Subject Matter Experts, partners, and internal teams to move assessment projects from concept through implementation. You’ll facilitate collaborative development activities, translate occupational expertise into meaningful assessment content, and help ensure assessments are accurate, relevant, fair, and aligned with their intended purpose. NOCTI/NBS develops assessments for a diverse range of industry, education, and workforce development partners across technical and occupational fields. Strong assessment development requires thoughtful coordination, sound processes, technical accuracy, and productive collaboration with the people who know the work best. This role supports that work by coordinating assessment development and maintenance activities, facilitating Subject Matter Expert involvement, managing documentation and timelines, and helping ensure assessment products and supporting materials consistently meet organizational and partner expectations.

Key responsibilities:

• Coordinate assessment development and maintenance activities, including timelines, documentation, deliverables, workshops, and project tracking.

• Translate occupational knowledge, skills, standards, and performance expectations into assessment blueprints, test items, performance jobs, and related materials.
• Review assessments for accuracy, relevance, fairness, and consistency, using data, psychometric concepts, pilot results, and customer feedback to support improvement.
• Work with internal and external partners to clarify needs, coordinate solutions, communicate progress, and strengthen assessments and related products.

Background:

The ideal candidate will have:

• Relevant professional experience in assessment development, education, workforce development, industry, project coordination, or a related field; an equivalent combination of education, training, and hands-on experience will be considered in place of a specific degree.
• Experience in business, industry, skilled trades, Career and Technical Education (CTE), workforce development, credentialing, or occupational assessment is a plus.

• Proficiency with standard workplace technology and the ability to learn assessment-development, documentation, project-management, and data systems.

Work Arrangement

This is a full-time primarily remote position. Team members are expected to be onsite at the NOCTI/NBS headquarters in Big Rapids, Michigan for occasional in-person meetings and events—generally fewer than five times per year—providing opportunities for collaboration and connection with colleagues across departments.

The position also requires periodic travel to partner locations for onsite assessment development activities, including Subject Matter Expert workshops, meetings, and other project-related work. Some assessment development activities may also require evening availability. Travel frequency will vary based on project needs.
