Job description

The Harlem Children's Zone (HCZ) started with one mission that was the most ambitious and audacious in U.S. history: to end intergenerational poverty in Central Harlem and lead the way for other long-distressed communities nationwide and around the world to do the same. HCZ breaks the cycle of intergenerational poverty with on-the-ground, all-around programming that builds up opportunities for children and families to thrive in school, work, and life. From early childhood education and career programs to community outreach and wellness initiatives, HCZ opens pathways to mobility and prosperity. HCZ believes that the pathway to college begins when a child is born and doesn't end until a student has graduated and has the tools to thrive in a fulfilling career. The organization's aim is to light that pathway, from cradle to college to career, with community-responsive, wraparound youth programs that support children and their families in every way and at every stage of a child's development.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Supports the coordination and articulation of the network curriculum and instruction across and between grade levels.
  • Supports administrators and the network in developing and implementing alignment between curriculum and instruction.
  • Monitors and evaluates current processes based on insights from project management and the ongoing evaluation of instruction and curriculum, and assists in the evaluation of programs as designated by the network.
  • Supports planning professional development, training, and growth programs for Promise Academy staff.
  • Consults with administrators and the network regarding instructional resources and needs.
  • Assists the network in areas related to the instructional program as determined by the deputy superintendent and the superintendent.
  • Supports network personnel as designated by leadership.
  • Supports the coordination and innovation of the network's summer school program.
  • Supports the Special Education team on mandated services for scholars, information systems, and state invoices to ensure any delays or issues are resolved in a timely manner.
  • Work on various projects to strengthen the curriculum and improve academic and operational systems for the school network.
  • Collaborate with the Central Office Business Manager to maintain accurate submission of bi-monthly invoices and reimbursement funding.
  • Leverage next-generation data analytics to inform instructional strategies, track student progress, and support data-driven decision-making across the school/district.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualification, Skill, and Knowledge Requirements
  • A dedication and commitment to the mission of HCZ Promise Academy.
  • Bachelor's degree required. Master's preferred.
  • Ability to plan and oversee a work plan and project, modifying as needed and working with a team to drive projects through to completion.
  • Acute attention to detail coupled with the ability to think and act strategically, able to keep complete and accurate records.
