Job Duties
Virginia Military Institute is accepting applications for an Assessment Analyst position. Reporting to the Director of Institutional Effectiveness, the Assessment Analyst works independently and collaboratively with campus stakeholders to support the Institute’s mission and strategic plan, as well as assessment, continuous improvement, and accreditation requirements. As a member of the Office Institutional Effectiveness, the Assessment Analyst is responsible for the institution’s survey research, assessment, and institutional effectiveness initiatives. This is a full-time, on-site position.
Key responsibilities include:
• Plan, organize and coordinate university assessment processes, including annual unit outcomes assessment reporting (continuous improvement reports).
• Track and report results for annual office assessment outcomes.
• Oversee academic program reviews.
• Identify, coordinate, and maintain appropriate assessment information systems and records in support of outcomes assessment.
• Collaborate with OIE on university-level assessments (e.g., NSSE, Cadet Services) as needed.
• Coordinate the work of assessment and accreditation (e.g., SACSCOC) efforts of the institution.
• Update and maintain the office’s website with timely, relevant data
• Assist the Director and Associate Director in the analysis and reporting of other institutional data, as needed for planning, evaluation, and assessment.
• Develop and implement institutional surveys to assess cadet and employee experience and provide useful information for decision-making.
• Performs quantitative and qualitative analysis of survey data.
Minimum Qualifications
• Bachelor’s degree in appropriate discipline
• Excellent verbal, interpersonal, and written communication skills
• Strong problem-solving, decision-making, and analytical skills
• Excellent customer service skills
• Previous experience with survey research, assessment, and/or continuous improvement practices
• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
• Ability to participate in and manage several different projects simultaneously
• Team player with the ability to work in a fast-paced environment and to meet deadlines
Additional Considerations
• Graduate degree in relevant discipline
• Previous employment in higher education conducting survey research and/or assessment
• Demonstrated interest in broadening and deepening expertise in institutional effectiveness, assessment, and quality improvement
• Familiarity with on-line survey system
