Job summary

Magna International in Piedmont, SC seeks an experienced Tool & Die Maker to support assembly tooling and robot tooling efforts. The role requires a strong background in hemming die and clinch tooling with extensive metrology skills and a minimum of 7 years in tooling assembly.

You will work with advanced tooling and machining equipment, adhering to QS9000 standards and Safety protocols. Competitive pay and comprehensive benefits are offered.

Qualifications

• Associate’s degree or equivalent from two-year college or technical school or 5 years related experience or training.
• Completion of a 4-year Tool & Die apprenticeship program.
• Tool and Die Maker with related experience/familiar with assembly tooling work.
• Hemming die or clinch tool experience is a must; metrology experience required including exposure to master-buck tooling.

Responsibilities

• Operate a variety of machine tools (e.g. Tig/Mig/Arc welders, lathes, milling machines).
• Verify conformance of machines or repaired dies to specs by checking dimensions, clearances, and alignments.
• Troubleshoot problems during production.
• Set up appropriate tools in the department.
• Follow safe work practices and company procedures at all times.
• Ensure tooling quality standards and preventative maintenance per QS9000.
• Maintain tooling quality standards and preventative/predictive maintenance program to ensure QS9000 compliance.
• Able to work overtime as required.
• Perform other duties as required.

Job Responsibilities

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS OF THE POSITIONS

• Maintain tooling Quality STD’s and Preventative/ Predictive Maintenance program to ensure compliance with QS9000 Requirements.

• Perform other duties as required.

POSITION REQUIREMENTS

EDUCATION

• Associate’s degree or equivalent from two years college or technical school or 5 years related experience or training or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Completion of a 4-year Tool & Die apprenticeship program.

WORK EXPERIENCE/ TECHNICAL TRAINING

• Tool and Die Maker with related experience/familiar with assembly tooling work.
• Good hand dexterity, mechanical skills, mathematical skills and organizational skills.
• Must have a minimum of 7 years’ experience with assembly tooling with minimum 5 years of specializing with new assembly tool construction and robot tooling.
• Hemming die or clinch tool experience is a must. Metrology experience is required including exposure to and using master-buck tooling.
