Job summary

GE HealthCare is hiring for an hourly Assembly/Test Technician in the Milwaukee/Waukesha area. You will assemble, inspect, and test mechanical and electrical subsystems from instructions, with fitting and secondary machining as needed.

Shifts vary (1st, 2nd, or 3rd) and locations include Waukesha, Milwaukee, and Oak Creek. Candidates should read drawings, use precision measuring tools, and perform repairs or retests to meet quality standards.

Qualifications

  • Read and interpret mechanical and electrical drawings.
  • Perform arithmetic with decimals and fractions accurately.
  • Use standard measuring devices (scales, calipers, micrometers).
  • Assemble complex parts per drawings and schematics.
  • Understand AC/DC theory for instrumentation setup.
  • Pass color and depth perception tests.
  • Able to lift parts and perform repetitive motions as required.
  • Stand or sit for extended periods during shifts.

  • Perform inspection/test functions and repair assemblies to meet quality standards.

Function: Manufacturing Family: Shop Operations Corporate Band: HRLY Labor Grade: LG10


Union: Lodge 1916


Possible Shifts: 1st, 2nd or 3rd


Possible Locations: Waukesha, WI; Milwaukee, WI; Oak Creek, WI



  • Assemble, inspect, and perform appropriate tests on mechanical and electrical assemblies and subsystems from written or verbal instructions. Perform fitting, aligning and secondary machining where necessary.

  • Perform specified inspection and test functions and evaluate/repair assemblies as required to meet quality/performance requirements.

  • Per written or verbal instructions, disassemble, repair, upgrade, and retest finished goods returned from the manufacturing floor or stock.

  • Perform work of a miscellaneous nature whenever it is conducive to efficient operation and/or maintaining production.


Required Qualifications


  • Have demonstrated ability to read and interpret mechanical and electrical drawings and understand verbal and written instruction.

  • Demonstrated ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide using decimals and fractions

  • Have demonstrated ability to use standard mechanical measuring devices such as scales, calipers, combination square, height gauges, micrometers, etc.

  • Have demonstrated ability to make complex assemblies from instructions, drawings and schematics utilizing solder equipment, standard and special tools, and small power equipment.

  • Have demonstrated working knowledge of AC/DC theory at the level of application necessary to set-up and operate electrical/electronic instrumentation as might be acquired through basic electrical/electronic courses.

  • Have passed color perception test and depth perception test administered by the GE Healthcare Medical Center

  • Able to discriminate visually to perform various checks*

  • Able to discriminate auditorially to perform noise checks*

  • Bending motions from waist required*

  • Able to handle/lift various parts/assemblies* 1

  • Repetitive hand and wrist motion required*1

  • Extended period of standing/sitting*
