Job summary

Magnum Systems in Parsons, KS is seeking an Assembly Technician to join the Assembly department. You will assemble component parts into complete products per customer specifications and the production schedule, using hand and power tools and performing final inspection and checkout.

TITLE: Assembly Technician

JOB CLASSIFICATION: Non-Exempt

DEPARTMENT: Assembly

REPORTS TO: Production Supervisor

Location: Parsons, KS

POSITION DESCRIPTION

The Assembly Technician is responsible for assembling component parts into a complete and operational product based upon customer requirements and production schedule.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Perform small component assembly, general machine assembly, gasket making, basic electrical wiring and other miscellaneous assembly duties.
  • Perform complete machine construction including final inspection and checkout.
  • Read and understand work orders and stock production needs. Review and prioritize work orders and stock production needs to ensure that products are completed in a timely manner.
  • Identify and obtain required component parts for each work order or stock production assembly.
  • Inspect parts before and after assembly.
  • Use various hand and power tools to efficiently assemble produced component parts into final product.
  • Other duties and responsibilities as assigned, including special projects.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES
  • Independently set up assembly job.
  • Learn, understand, and operate ERP software as required for this position.
  • Learn and know part numbers.
  • Read blueprints and/or drawings.
  • Ability to wire and test basic electrical circuitry: low voltage DC and AC.
  • Follow directions, cooperate, work, and communicate with coworkers, supervisors, subordinates, and/or outside contacts.
  • Read, write, understand, and speak English.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

Required:

  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • Minimum 2 years comparable work experience or a combination of experience and continuing educational coursework.

Preferred:

  • Trade School Graduate
PHYSICAL ACTIVITIES AND REQUIREMENTS

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job:

  • Lifting, carrying, and/or moving up to 40 lbs.
  • Pushing, pulling, and/or shuffling objects up to 100 lbs.
  • Frequent standing up to 100%.
  • Occasional squatting and sitting.
  • Work in temperatures from 55 to 100 Fahrenheit.
  • Ability to use hands and fingers for grasping, pinching, pulling, pushing with some force, rotating fingers and wrists, and hand-eye coordination.
  • Ability to see small/fine print and small holes.
  • Ability to identify color.
