Job summary

Columbus McKinnon Corporation is seeking an Assembly Technician to operate saw equipment, assemble motors, drives, and conveyor components, and prepare finished products for transfer to crating or shipping according to work orders and drawings.

You will perform quality checks, use hand and power tools, and collaborate with team members to maintain efficient workflow in a climate-controlled facility. The shift runs Monday–Friday, 6:00am–2:30pm, with strong emphasis on safety and 5S standards.

Qualifications

  • Ability to read and interpret work orders and drawings.
  • 1+ year of assembly experience preferred.
  • Able to lift up to 40 lbs and maintain safe work practices.

Responsibilities

  • Assemble motors, drives, conveyors and subassemblies per orders and drawings.
  • Identify and verify required parts and materials for production orders.
  • Operate saw equipment to cut materials per specs and requirements.
  • Use hand and power tools and measuring devices to assemble and verify dimensions.
  • Inspect assemblies and perform quality checks against specs.

Job Summary/Overview

This position works within the Stands and Drives assembly area and is responsible for operating saw equipment, assembling motors, drives, conveyor components, and subassemblies according to work orders, assembly drawings, and production paperwork, performing quality checks, and preparing completed products for transfer to the crating or shipping departments.

Work Schedule

Monday - Friday

6:00am - 2:30pm

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Performs motor, drive, conveyor component assemblies and sub assemblies from work orders, assembly drawings, and production paperwork.
  • Gathers, identifies, and verifies parts and materials required for production orders.
  • Operates saw equipment to cut materials to specified lengths and dimensions according to production requirements, work orders, and drawings.
  • Uses hand tools, power tools, and measuring devices to assemble products and verify specifications.
  • Inspects completed assemblies and performs quality checks to ensure products meet specifications.
  • Works with team leads and other departments as needed to resolve assembly, documentation, or material-related issues.
  • Collaborates with team members and across other production areas to ensure efficient workflow and timely order completion.
  • Assists with stacking, staging, and preparing completed products for transfer to the crating or shipping department.
  • Works in a safe manner complying with all safety procedures.
  • Maintains a safe and clean environment and performs 5S tasks as required.
  • Other duties as assigned.

  • Ability to read and interpret production paperwork and work instructions.
  • Basic computer, measurement, and math skills.
  • Mechanical aptitude and ability to safely operate production equipment.
  • Ability to remain focused and productive while performing repetitive tasks.
  • Team player with strong communication skills.
  • Ability to be flexible and adjust priorities to reflect changing business needs.
Required Qualifications
  • Ability to safely lift/lower/push/pull up to 40 lbs.
  • 1+ year of assembly experience preferred.
Compensation

$19+ per hour, depending on experience
