Job summary

The Assembly Technician will read detailed drawings and schematics, assemble systems, inspect inbound parts, and prepare finished goods for shipment while supporting warehouse tasks.

Qualifications

  • Proficiency with metal fabrication equipment (e.g., drill press, band saw, belt sander, grinders).
  • Experience using hand and power tools (e.g., drills, nail guns, miter saws).
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to multitask and prioritize in a fast-paced environment.
  • Certified or experienced forklift operator.

Responsibilities

  • Assemble and manufacture vacuum automation systems, including lifting devices, robotic tooling, and crane systems.
  • Read and interpret technical drawings, schematics, and work instructions to ensure accurate assembly.
  • Receive incoming shipments; inspect, verify, and stock parts and materials.
  • Package and prepare finished goods for shipment to ensure safe delivery.
  • Support warehouse operations, including shipping, receiving, and processing returns.
  • Develop working knowledge of the Schmalz product portfolio and support basic application projects.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Position Summary

The Assembly Technician assembles advanced vacuum automation equipment, including robotic end-of-arm tooling and material handling systems, while supporting warehouse operations such as receiving, inspection, and shipping.

Position Overview
  • Assemble and manufacture vacuum automation systems, including lifting devices, robotic tooling, and crane systems.

Basic Qualifications (Including Educational Requirements)
  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Demonstrated mechanical aptitude and technical skills.
  • Proficiency with metal fabrication equipment (e.g., drill press, band saw, belt sander, grinders, manual mill).
  • Experience using hand and power tools (e.g., drills, nail guns, miter saws).
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to multitask and prioritize in a fast-paced environment.
  • Certified or experienced forklift operator.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Associate degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field, or equivalent hands-on experience.
  • 3-5+ years of technical assembly experience (industrial automation preferred).
  • Basic knowledge of electrical and pneumatic systems.
  • Experience in a warehouse, shipping/receiving, or manufacturing environment.
  • Familiarity with packaging and preparing freight for LTL shipments.

Requirements

Basic Qualifications (Including Educational Requirements): High school diploma or GED. Mechanical aptitude and technical inclination. Proficient with metal fabrication tools i.e. drill press, band saw, belt sander, grinders, etc. Proficient with basic hand and power tools including nail guns and miter saws. Self-starter who works well with minimal direction. Must be able to effectively multi-task and prioritize work in a high paced environment. Proficient fork lift operator.

Preferred Qualifications

Associate's Degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field. Basic knowledge in electronic and pneumatic systems. Experience in shipping/receiving environment. Familiar with packaging freight for LTL shipments
