Job summary

ASSA ABLOY Group in Phoenix, AZ is seeking an Assembly Technician to assemble, install, and prepare high‑quality building components at our on‑site facility.

This hands‑on role requires reading engineering drawings, using hand tools and forklifts, and maintaining safety and quality standards. You’ll work with a comprehensive benefits package including competitive pay, paid time off, medical/dental, 401(k), and development opportunities.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma, GED, or Silver Certificate required.
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in installation, production, or related field desired.
  • Experience in metal fabrication or commercial construction preferred.
  • Ability to read engineering drawings and use basic measurement tools.
  • Must possess a valid forklift operator’s license and be able to lift up to 75 lbs.

Responsibilities

  • Assemble, install, and prepare high-quality building components.
  • Install hardware for Rite Door Assemblies and prepare assemblies for shipment.
  • Perform door machining, modification, grinding, sanding, and other production tasks.
  • Receive and inspect materials, package and label orders, and restock inventory.
  • Maintain quality standards, operate and maintain equipment, and follow safety procedures.

If you answered yes to these questions, we should talk! We are looking for an Assembly Technician for our Grand Canyon Service Center or regional manufacturing facility. This is an on‑site role based out of our Phoenix, Arizona facility.

What would you do as our Assembly Technician?

You will be responsible for assembling, installing, and preparing high‑quality building components. This hands‑on role involves working with hardware, machining doors, handling materials, and ensuring products meet quality standards.

Installation & Assembly
  • Install hardware for Rite Door Assemblies, including panic devices, entry trim, continuous hinges, kick plates, and more.
  • Package and prepare Rite Slide Assemblies for shipment.
  • Perform door machining, modification, grinding, sanding, and other production tasks as needed.
Material Handling & Inventory
  • Receive and inspect incoming materials for quality and accuracy.
  • Pick, bundle, package, and label materials for customer orders, ensuring proper packaging standards.
  • Restock inventory and maintain organization of storage areas.
Quality Control & Equipment Maintenance
  • Ensure compliance with established quality standards and work instructions.
  • Maintain equipment through regular inspections and report any issues.
  • Adapt to changing assignments or responsibilities as needed.
Safety & Compliance
  • Follow safety protocols and contribute to a safe and efficient work environment.
  • Participate in a safe and harmonious working environment.
  • Assure compliance with federal, state, local and corporate policies, regulations, AADG programs and policies and the ASSA ABLOY Code of Conduct.
The Skills and Experience you need
  • High School Diploma, GED, or Silver Certificate required.
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in installation, production, industry sales, customer service, or a related field is desired.
  • Experience in metal fabrication or commercial construction work preferred.
  • Experience with hand tools, trucks, banding equipment, drill presses, and saws.
  • Experience operating forklifts and/or welding is a plus.
  • Ability to read and understand engineering drawings.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to measure accurately to 1/16”.
  • Basic math skills, including fractions, decimals, and metric conversions.
  • Computer proficiency (RF guns, inventory systems, and office‑related tools).
  • Ability to work within a dynamic team while having the ability to multitask, prioritize projects, and work independently.
  • Strong teamwork orientation, thriving in a collaborative environment.
  • Ability to lift up to 75 lbs. for approximately 30% of the time.
  • Ability to walk and stand for the duration of the work shift.
  • Must possess a valid forklift operator’s license.
  • Willingness to work overtime as needed.
