Job summary

Toyoda Gosei is seeking an Assembly Supervisor for the night shift (6:30 PM–5:30 AM) to lead the injection-molded parts team, ensure accurate assembly, quality checks, and safe production in a fast-paced setting.

You will coordinate with Planning, Engineering and QA, promote Lean practices, monitor KPIs such as throughput and quality, coach staff, and drive continuous improvement to meet schedules and customer specifications.

Qualifications

  • Previous supervisory or leadership experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • Experience with injection-molded products preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of quality systems, manufacturing processes, and safety regulations.
  • Experience with Lean Manufacturing or Six Sigma preferred.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Supervision of Assembly Operations
  • Lead and manage the assembly team, ensuring all injection-molded parts are properly assembled, inspected, and prepared for painting or coating.
  • Ensure assembly operations run efficiently and effectively while meeting established production schedules.
  • Monitor daily workflow and allocate resources to achieve production objectives.
Quality Control and Standards
  • Maintain and enforce strict quality control processes throughout the assembly operation.
  • Ensure all parts meet Toyoda Gosei and customer specifications before progressing to the painting or coating stage.
  • Address and resolve quality concerns promptly in collaboration with the Quality Assurance team.
  • Promote a culture of quality and accountability among team members.
Workplace Safety
  • Prioritize and enforce a culture of safety within the assembly department.
  • Ensure all safety standards, procedures, and regulations are followed at all times.
  • Maintain assembly work areas in a safe and organized manner to prevent accidents and injuries.
  • Conduct safety observations, investigations, and corrective actions as needed.
  • Foster an environment of continuous improvement within the assembly department.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to identify opportunities for efficiency improvements, waste reduction, and process optimization.
  • Participate in Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, and other continuous improvement initiatives to enhance assembly line performance.
  • Implement and sustain best practices to improve productivity and quality.
Training and Development
  • Oversee the training and development of assembly team members.
  • Ensure employees are knowledgeable in product specifications, assembly processes, safety practices, and quality standards.
  • Promote a culture of teamwork, accountability, and professional growth.
  • Provide coaching, performance feedback, and developmental opportunities.
Collaboration with Other Departments
  • Work closely with Production Planning, Engineering, Quality Control, and Logistics teams to ensure smooth transitions between assembly, painting/coating, and shipping processes.
  • Coordinate with the Shipping Department to ensure timely and accurate delivery of completed products to customers.
  • Support cross-functional problem-solving and communication initiatives.
Performance Metrics
  • Monitor and report on key performance indicators (KPIs), including:
    • Assembly throughput
    • Quality performance
    • Scrap and rework rates
    • Downtime
    • Productivity
    • On-time delivery performance
  • Take proactive measures to meet or exceed production targets and maintain operational efficiency.
Required Experience, Skills, and Qualifications
  • Previous supervisory or leadership experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • Experience with assembly operations and injection-molded products preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of quality systems, manufacturing processes, and safety regulations.
  • Experience with Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, or continuous improvement methodologies preferred.
  • Excellent communication, leadership, and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and manufacturing systems.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced manufacturing environment and manage multiple priorities.
