Job summary

Qualifications

Description

The Assembly Supervisor is responsible for overseeing daily assembly operations and leading employees to ensure production goals, quality standards, safety requirements, and company procedures are met. This position provides direction and support to the assembly team while promoting productivity, teamwork, accountability, and continuous improvement.

Requirements

1. Team Leadership and Supervision

  • Supervise and lead assembly employees during daily operations.
  • Assign work, establish priorities, and monitor employee productivity.
  • Provide coaching, guidance, and feedback to employees.
  • Address attendance, performance, and employee concerns in a timely manner.
  • Promote teamwork, accountability, and a positive work environment.

2. Production Operations

  • Oversee daily assembly activities to ensure production schedules and goals are met.
  • Monitor workflow, staffing, and production requirements.
  • Identify and address production delays, equipment issues, and other operational concerns.
  • Coordinate with other departments to support efficient production flow.
  • Ensure employees follow work instructions, processes, and established procedures.

3. Quality

  • Ensure assembled products meet company and customer quality standards.
  • Monitor production for quality issues and take corrective action as needed.
  • Work with Quality personnel to identify and resolve recurring issues.
  • Promote attention to detail and a culture of quality within the assembly team.

4. Safety and Compliance

  • Promote and maintain a safe working environment.
  • Ensure employees follow company safety policies, procedures, and applicable requirements.
  • Address unsafe practices and report safety concerns or incidents promptly.
  • Ensure employees are properly trained before performing assigned work.

5. Training and Development

  • Train and assist employees with assembly processes, procedures, and work instructions.
  • Identify employee training needs and coordinate appropriate training.
  • Cross-train employees to support staffing flexibility and production needs.
  • Support employee development and opportunities for advancement.

6. Performance Management

  • Monitor employee performance and productivity.
  • Provide regular feedback and coaching.
  • Recognize strong performance and address performance concerns appropriately.
  • Assist with performance reviews and disciplinary actions as needed.

7. Communication and Continuous Improvement

  • Conduct team meetings and communicate production priorities, company updates, and expectations.
  • Maintain effective communication with management and other departments.
  • Identify opportunities to improve productivity, quality, safety, and efficiency.
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives within the assembly department.

Qualifications

  • Previous supervisory or lead experience in a manufacturing or assembly environment preferred.
  • Manufacturing or assembly experience required.
  • Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills.
  • Ability to effectively manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced production environment.
  • Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills.
  • Ability to read and follow work instructions, drawings, or procedures as applicable.
  • Ability to work effectively with employees at various skill levels.
  • High school diploma or equivalent required; additional education or technical training preferred.

Additional Requirements

  • Ability to work scheduled shifts and overtime as needed.
  • Ability to stand, walk, and move throughout the production area for extended periods.
  • Ability to work in a manufacturing environment and follow required safety procedures.
  • Commitment to quality, safety, productivity, and continuous improvement.
