Job summary

Orion Castings in North Billerica, MA, is seeking a dynamic Assembly Supervisor to join our leadership team. You will balance meeting production objectives with driving continuous improvement and actively developing your team to grow in their careers.

The ideal candidate has a product engineering background and a focus on managing quality, workflow, and vendor/customer relations. This role offers a day shift, full-time schedule, and competitive compensation.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree preferred in engineering or technical discipline.
  • Minimum of 3 years of manufacturing leadership experience.
  • Lean Manufacturing experience: 5S, Standard Work, problem solving, value stream mapping.
  • Proficiency with ERP systems and MS Office.

Responsibilities

  • Lead daily assembly teams across multiple areas.
  • Own the program management for a key product line from start to finish.
  • Coordinate production with customer service, control, and paint shop.
  • Drive continuous improvement to meet safety, quality, uptime goals.
  • Conduct 5S audits and participate in production meetings.

Summary

We are looking for a dynamic Assembly Supervisor to join our leadership team in North Billerica, MA. In this role, your priorities will be beautifully balanced between ensuring production objectives are met, driving continuous improvement, and actively developing your team members so they can grow in their careers. The ideal candidate brings a product engineering background and a natural focus on managing quality, workflow, and strategic vendor/customer relations.

Compensation & Schedule
  • Salary Range: $82,500 - $100,000 / year (Depending on experience)
  • Schedule: Full-Time | Day Shift

Duties and Responsibilities
  • Team Leadership: Directs the daily work of assembly teams, spanning several operational areas to fully accommodate manufacturing needs.
  • Program Management: Takes ownership of program management for a key, high-profile product line, managing the assembly process from start to finish.
  • Production Coordination: Supervises overall production by collaborating daily with customer service, production control, and paint shop management.
  • Quality & Engineering: Oversees ultimate product quality, designs/develops assembly operations for new production lines, and relentlessly improves existing processes for peak efficiency.
  • Workforce Planning: Reviews forecasts for upcoming production needs, runs open order reports, properly assigns tasks, and ensures team members are continuously cross-training to build a flexible workforce.
  • Performance & Metrics: Analyzes area performance results to drive continuous improvement activities that meet or exceed safety, productivity, quality, and uptime goals.
  • Talent Development: Conducts Associate performance reviews, identifies skills gaps, creates individual development plans, and manages team time and attendance according to company policy.
  • Workplace Excellence: Attends daily production meetings to report out on project status, review order fulfillment, and handle known downtime or quality issues. Performs daily 5S audits to maintain an optimal, safe floor.
Position Requirements
  • Education: Bachelor's degree preferred (ideally in an engineering or technical discipline).
  • Experience: Minimum of 3 years of manufacturing leadership experience preferred.
  • Lean Manufacturing: Practical experience with Lean methodologies such as 5S, Standard Work, Problem Solving, and Value Stream Mapping preferred.
  • Systems & Software: Ability to work efficiently within ERP systems, alongside proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.

  • Influence & Trust: Exceptional ability to build instant credibility, forge trust, and comfortably lead/influence other leaders across the organization without direct authority.
  • Versatile Communication: Ability to fluidly interact and collaborate with all levels of the organization, from production floor associates to senior corporate executives.
