Assembly Supervisor

Full-time Regular Reading, OH, US

30+ days ago Requisition ID: 1205

Assembly Supervisor — Aerospace & Defense Manufacturing Leadership Role | Full-Time | Own the Floor

The Assembly Floor Runs Because You Run It.

At GTC, what gets assembled here ends up in some of the most demanding environments on the planet — defense systems, gas turbines, aerospace platforms that can't afford a single failure. The Assembly Supervisor is the person who makes sure that never happens. You'll set the standard, lead the team, and own the outcome from the moment a shift begins to the moment the last part is staged and ready to move.

And through our Ownership For All program, what you build here isn't just someone else's success story — it's yours. Every eligible full-time employee receives an ownership stake in GTC. From day one, you're not just joining a team. You're becoming an owner. Your wins aren't just good for the company. They're good for you.

What You'll Do

You'll run the assembly department — owning quality, productivity, scheduling, cost, and the people who make it all happen. Before the shift even starts, you've already set your team up to win: materials staged, assignments clear, every person knowing their task, their standard time, and the manufacturing methods they'll apply.

On the quality side, you'll hold the line on standard operating procedures and frozen processes, making sure work instructions are followed and every characteristic is inspected and recorded per the Operator Characteristics Claim Sheet. When discrepancies surface, you'll dig into root cause alongside the quality team and put corrective actions in place that actually prevent recurrence. You'll work hand-in-hand with technical services and quality assurance to drive variation and non-conformance risk out of programs, methods, and processes for good.

On the production side, you'll monitor progress in real time, jump on problems before they become disruptions, and actively participate in daily scheduling and coordination meetings. When the schedule demands it, you'll call in overtime and coordinate resources to hit throughput goals. And you'll keep a continuous improvement mindset running in the background — always watching for waste, always initiating action when you spot an opportunity.

Your people are your most important job. You'll ensure every team member is trained in their primary assignment and cross-trained where it makes sense. You'll conduct performance appraisals that are honest and objective, recognize outstanding performance loudly and often, and handle disciplinary matters with the consistency, fairness, and respect every employee deserves.

What You Bring

Five or more years of supervisory experience in mechanical assembly, testing, gas turbines, or power generation is the foundation. Aerospace and defense program knowledge puts you ahead of the pack. A high school diploma is required; a technical degree is preferred. U.S. citizenship is required for this role.

Beyond the credentials, you're a proven leader — one who builds consensus, earns followers, and communicates clearly in every direction. You stay organized under pressure, solve problems by building real solutions, and bring working knowledge of Microsoft Office and electronic time and labor systems. You understand production operations and machinery deeply, or you learn them fast.

This role is physically active — you'll be on the floor for extended periods, on your feet, moving, lifting up to 50 pounds, and doing what it takes to keep the team running. Mentally, you'll be making quick decisions, managing multiple priorities at once, and staying sharp when the pressure is highest.

Why GTC

A leadership role where your decisions shape what gets built and how well it gets built. A culture built on quality, accountability, and continuous improvement — not just on paper, but on the floor every day. Work that directly supports defense and aerospace programs that matter. And through Ownership For All, a real stake in the company you're showing up for every day. From day one, you're not just a supervisor here. You're an owner.

GTC is an Equal Opportunity Employer M/F/D/V. All applicants are considered based on experience and knowledge, without regard to race, color, religion, national origin, sexual orientation, ancestry, marital status, disability, or veteran status.
