Job summary

ST Engineering MRAS is seeking an Assembly Quality Engineer in Baltimore to lead quality engineering for assigned programs, collaborate with inspectors, and apply RCCA tools to reduce defects.

You will process nonconformances, support corrective actions, and drive Lean/ Six Sigma initiatives while ensuring compliance with AS9100/ISO9001. Strong communication and computer skills are essential.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering or science required; 1+ year manufacturing/production quality experience preferred.
  • High school diploma with 5+ years in manufacturing or quality role accepted.
  • Knowledge of export controls and U.S. Person status may be required.

Responsibilities

  • Manage all Quality Engineering functions for assigned program(s) with guidance.
  • Act as POC for the program to inspectors and cross-functional teams.
  • Eliminate process variation and defects through RCCA tools (PFMEA, DMAIC, 5 WHYs, 8D).
  • Support Corrective Action Boards and Quality Engagement activities.
  • Process nonconformances and workflow items promptly.
  • Train-on-demand and lead prioritization of tasks aligned to business goals.
  • Communicate effectively across teams and with stakeholders.

What YOU will do
  • Manages all Quality Engineering functions for assigned program(s) or area(s) with some guidance.
  • Acts as the point of contact for their program to inspectors.
  • Has a general understanding of AS9100, ISO 9001 and/or Nadcap requirements.
  • Eliminates process variation and product defects through creative solutions.
  • Works root cause, corrective action with some guidance using established RCCA tools (PFMEA, DMAIC, 5 WHYs, 8D, etc.).
  • Supports regularly scheduled team meetings including Corrective Action Boards, Quality Engagement Council, etc.
  • Processes all nonconformances and workflows in a timely manner.
  • Takes on training opportunities as they arise.
  • Solicits weekly prioritization of tasks and deliverables that align with business objectives.
  • Mostly takes direction from cross-functional team members/leaders to execute support actions for the cross-functional team.
  • Must be an excellent communicator.
  • Must have excellent computer skills (Power-Point, Excel and statistical software tools).
What YOU must bring to Succeed

Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited university or college in appropriate science, engineering, or engineering technology field with a minimum of 1 year of experience in a manufacturing or in a production quality role, Or High School Diploma/GED with at least 5 years in a manufacturing or in a production quality role.

  • This position involves access to export‑controlled technology which requires U.S. Person status or government authorization. A ‘U.S. Person,’ as defined by 22 C.F.R. §120.62, includes U.S. citizens, U.S. nationals, individuals lawfully admitted for permanent residence (green card holders), and individuals granted asylum or refugee status in the United States. To be considered for this position, you must either be a U.S. Person or fall within a legally recognized export control exception or authorization. If hired, you will be required to provide valid proof of such status.
Desired Characteristics:
  • Aerospace manufacturing experience.
  • Quality experience, including knowledge of ISO9000 or AS9100.
  • Positive attitude and leadership characteristics.
  • Can work in a fast‑paced environment and multitask.
  • Able to work both individually and as part of a team.
  • Experience with Lean Manufacturing tools.
  • General understanding of GD&T for drawing review.
  • Ability to work with individuals with diverse backgrounds, experience, and education levels.
  • Training in LEAN, Six Sigma, CI methodologies, and process variation management tools to continuously improve processes (DMAIC).
  • Skilled in the application of statistical methods (e.g. hypothesis testing, ANOVA, design of experiments) to draw conclusions from raw data.
  • DFSS (Design For Six Sigma). Experience in the design and development of new product introduction.
  • Working knowledge of PPAP and APQP. AS9145.

Estimate salary range for this role: $63,600 to $93,000 per year. ST Engineering MRAS considers several factors with extending job offers, including but not limited to candidates’ key skills, relevant work experience, education/training/certification, job level, and work location. Base salary is only one component of our competitive Total Rewards package.
