Assembly Process Integration Engineer

The process industrialization group is looking for a motivated process engineer who is committed to the integration and qualification of multi-stack thin films into a functional device. You will be responsible for developing and maturing process workflows, establishing critical to quality metrics, using statistical process control on our journey to release this technology in an Apple product.

Description

Given the start-up nature of the project a successful engineer needs to take ownership in driving projects independently, be comfortable with constantly evolving priorities, is an action driven problem solver, works collaboratively, and enjoys a good challenge.

  1. Develops, evaluates, and improves microelectronic laser, interconnect, stacking, and packaging processes.
  2. Drive process readiness activities and prepare for transfer to manufacturing.
  3. Implement procedures to inspect, test, and evaluate reliability of equipment, process, and products.
  4. Establish SPC systems and maintain data collection and performance measurements to track performance consistency.
  5. Connect with multi-functional groups on schedules, metrics, and risk mitigation to facilitate process advancement.
  6. Collaborate with vendors to assess specifications, purchase of equipment, and evaluate products against quality standards.
  7. Define integrated device critical to quality metrics and implement solutions that achieve repeatability and reproducibility targets.

Minimum Qualifications

  • BS degree.
  • Ability to travel as this position will require domestic and International travel up to 20%.

Preferred Qualifications

  • MS degree and a minimum of 3 years relevant industry experience.
  • Experience in both thin-films development and integration specifically in assembly, stacking, packaging, or testing.
  • Experience in leading engineering projects.
  • Skilled with statistics and data analysis software such as JMP, Minitab, Python, etc.
  • Strong knowledge and application of engineering methodology and quality assurance methods.
  • Advanced technical knowledge of laser systems and automation equipment pertaining to optics, machine vision, and stacking in a semi-conductor background.
  • Experience in using calipers, laser energy meters, standards, and other various equipment technology specific to laser machining and/or automation equipment.
  • Ability to set up, program/teach, troubleshoot, debug, and maintain assembly robot systems.
  • Experience in designing, developing, and optimizing hermetic sealing processes.
  • Demonstrated ability to work with vendors, domain experts, and multi-functional teams to implement new processes and measurements.
  • Implementing quality standards by leveraging a deep knowledge in quality assurance methods.
  • Statistical analysis and formal problem-solving tools (SPC, GR&R, DOE, ANOVA, Fishbone diagrams, FMEA, RCA, FTA, etc.).
  • Understanding and/or experience with characterization and FA techniques (FTIR, Optical Profilometry, Microscopy, SEM, TEM, XPS, XRD, Micro CT imaging).

Pay & Benefits

At Apple, base pay is one part of our total compensation package and is determined within a range. This provides the opportunity to progress as you grow and develop within a role. The base pay range for this role is between $136,300 and $248,700, and your base pay will depend on your skills, qualifications, experience, and location.

Apple employees also have the opportunity to become an Apple shareholder through participation in Apple’s discretionary employee stock programs. Apple employees are eligible for discretionary restricted stock unit awards, and can purchase Apple stock at a discount if voluntarily participating in Apple’s Employee Stock Purchase Plan.
