Job description

As an Assembly Operative at Hutchinson, you will play a key part in the production process, helping to assemble engineered components and sub-assemblies to meet customer specifications and quality standards. You will work within a dynamic manufacturing team and contribute to efficient and safe production in a modern engineering environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assemble components and sub-assemblies accurately using detailed work instructions, technical drawings and production schedules.
  • Use a variety of hand tools and power tools safely and efficiently to complete assembly operations.
  • Perform quality checks throughout assembly to ensure products meet internal and customer requirements.
  • Report defects or issues promptly and assist in corrective actions and improvements.
  • Maintain a clean, tidy, and organised work area, following Hutchinson’s health & safety and quality standards.
  • Work collaboratively with colleagues to achieve daily production targets and deadlines.
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives to help enhance productivity and product quality.
  • Adhere to all company processes and safety procedures at all times.

Skills & Qualifications

  • Previous experience in a manufacturing or assembly environment (ideally in engineering or metal fabrication).
  • Ability to interpret basic technical drawings and work instructions.
  • Competent in using basic hand tools and some power tools.
  • Good attention to detail and a focus on quality.
  • Team player with good communication skills.
  • Experience working in a fabrication or engineering workshop.
  • Any relevant qualifications in mechanical engineering, manufacturing, or a related discipline.
  • Awareness of lean manufacturing or continuous improvement principles.

Working Conditions

  • Full-time role within an on-site manufacturing facility in Kilrea.
