Advanced Machine & Engineering in Rockford, IL is seeking a full-time 1st shift Assembly Lead to supervise the assembly of Workflow Automation System components, ensuring compliance with work instructions, drawings, and quality standards.

You will provide daily direction to assemblers, coordinate work, train new team members, troubleshoot issues, and maintain safety and production documentation, while striving to meet production targets.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • 3+ years in manufacturing/assembly; prior lead or trainer experience preferred.
  • Must read and understand English.

Responsibilities

Advanced Machine & Engineering is a diversified manufacturing company that designs, builds, & delivers carbide sawing systems, custom work holding solutions, & automation solutions for a variety of industries. We are looking for full time, 1st shift Assembly Lead. The ideal candidate is responsible for managing the assembly of Hennig’s new Workflow Automation System according to work instructions, drawings, and quality standards while providing daily direction and hands‑on guidance to a team of assemblers. This role serves as the primary point of contact on the assembly floor, coordinating work assignments, training new team members, troubleshooting assembly and quality issues, and supporting production efficiency through accurate assembly, proper documentation, and adherence to safety and quality requirements.

Will be required to lead daily success meetings with team members to monitor all production targets.

WorkFlow Automated Pallet Delivery System

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
  • Assemble products and components following work instructions, drawings, and specifications
  • Direct multiple Sub assembly stations
  • Use hand tools, power tools, fixtures, and assembly equipment as required
  • Verify parts and materials prior to assembly to ensure accuracy and quality
  • Perform in-process and final inspections to ensure products meet quality standards
  • Identify and report assembly issues, defects, or missing components
  • Complete required production and quality documentation
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area
  • Follow all safety procedures, quality standards, and housekeeping requirements
  • Work collaboratively with supervisors and other team members to meet production goals
  • Lead daily success meetings with team members to monitor all production targets
  • Provide daily direction, work assignments, and hands‑on support to assembly team members
  • Train and mentor new and existing assemblers on work instructions, tooling, and quality standards
  • Monitor production output against schedule and communicate status, delays, and constraints to the supervisor
  • Troubleshoot assembly, tooling, and quality issues and implement or elevate corrective actions
  • Review completed work and documentation for accuracy and completeness prior to sign‑off
  • Recommend improvements to assembly methods, workflow, and workstation layout
  • Coordinate material and component availability with materials and planning personnel
Qualifications & Requirements:

Education: High School Diploma/GED required

Experience: Manufacturing or assembly experience required (3+ years); prior lead, trainer, or team coordination experience strongly preferred

Reading Ability: Must be able to read and understand English
