Job summary

South Bay Solutions in Fremont, CA is seeking an Assembly Lead to oversee daily assembly line operations, ensuring products meet quality standards and production goals while keeping the team safe and productive.

You will train staff, troubleshoot issues, coordinate tasks, and drive improvements in efficiency and quality with a hands-on leadership style. This role requires experience in high-precision manufacturing and the ability to read blueprints.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent; 3+ years in assembly/manufacturing.
  • At least 1 year in a lead role.
  • Ability to read and interpret drawings, blueprints, and work instructions.
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills.
  • Lead by example and motivate the team.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and coordinate daily assembly tasks to meet production schedules.
  • Inspect in-process and finished products to ensure specifications are met.
  • Train new and existing staff on assembly processes and safety.
  • Identify opportunities to improve efficiency, safety, and product quality; implement changes with supervision.
  • Enforce safety guidelines and proper PPE usage.

Position Summary

The Assembly Lead oversees daily assembly line operations, ensuring products are built to quality standards, production goals are met, and team members work efficiently and safely. This role coordinates activities, provides training, troubleshoots production issues, and acts as the primary point of contact between assembly staff and management.

Key Responsibilities
  • Leadership & Coordination
    • Assign daily tasks to assembly team members based on production schedules.
    • Monitor workflow to ensure targets are met on time.
    • Act as a resource for troubleshooting assembly issues.
  • Quality Control
    • Inspect work in progress and finished products to ensure adherence to specifications.
    • Enforce quality standards and initiate corrective actions when needed.
  • Training & Development
    • Train new and existing team members on assembly processes, equipment, and safety procedures.
    • Provide ongoing coaching and performance feedback.
  • Process Improvement
    • Identify opportunities to improve assembly efficiency, safety, and product quality.
    • Recommend and implement process changes in coordination with supervisors.
  • Safety & Compliance
    • Ensure all team members follow safety guidelines and wear appropriate PPE.
    • Report and address any unsafe conditions or incidents.
Qualifications
  • Education & Experience
    • High school diploma or equivalent required; technical or vocational training preferred.
    • 3+ years of assembly or manufacturing experience, with at least 1 year in a leadership or lead role.
  • Skills & Competencies
    • Strong understanding of assembly processes and tools.
    • Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, blueprints, and work instructions.
    • Excellent communication and organizational skills.
    • Problem-solving mindset and attention to detail.
    • Ability to lead by example and motivate a team.
Physical Requirements
  • Ability to stand, walk, and perform repetitive tasks for extended periods.
  • Lift up to 50 lbs. as required.
  • Manual dexterity for handling tools and small parts.
Work Environment
  • Fast-paced manufacturing environment.
  • Exposure to noise, machinery, and varying temperatures.
  • Requires adherence to strict safety protocols.
