Job summary

Fives Machining Systems, Inc in Fond du Lac, Wisconsin is seeking a 2nd Shift Assembler to join our assembly team. The role requires reading blueprints, using micrometers, and assembling machines according to layouts and parts lists.

The candidate will trouble-shoot, verify tolerances, and work with engineering to resolve issues, while employing hand and power tools and following quality standards.

Qualifications

• Experience reading blueprints and using precision measurement tools.
• Experience with mechanical assembly and fitment.
• Self-starter with a hands-on approach to manufacturing tasks.

Responsibilities

• Assemble machines/units to current assembly procedures, layouts and parts lists.
• Test precision units and verify quality specifications are achieved.
• Perform machine set-up/verification of customer order specifications by inspection and/or measuring.
• Perform dimensional geometric checkouts of larger units or sub-assemblies on granite.
• Maintain horizontal/vertical straightness and flatness; ensure squaring and parallelism.

• Trouble-shoot malfunctions and provide preventive and corrective maintenance for oursite equipment.
• Suggest actions for improvement and to enhance reliability. In addition, update theCMMS (Computerized Maintenance Management System) by entering maintenance operation reports.
• Follow the procedures and rules for health and safety.

Requirements

• Retrieve and study assembly instructions, detailed part prints, assembly layouts and parts lists.
• Gather parts/units, tools and/or material from inventory using a supplied material list.
• Prepare parts prior to assembly. This includes small sized unit assembly work.
• Work with engineering/supervision to identify issues and formulate corrective actions to assure product quality
• Test precision units and validate quality specifications are achieved
• Assemble machines/units to current assembly procedures, layouts and parts lists.
• horizontal and vertical straightness and flatness
• squaring and parallelism
• Including but not limited to feeler gauges, dial indicators, Vernier calipers, gage blocks, mechanical gages, autocollimator
• Use small hand tools (taps, reamers, files, etc.) for assembly process.
• Use power tools, both air and electrically powered for assembly process including drill press, sanders, and grinders
• Perform machine set-up/verification of customer's order specifications by inspection and/or measuring:
• Perform dimensional geometric checkouts of larger units or sub-assemblies on granite
• Perform proper machine foundation set-ups.
