Best Metal Products Co. Inc in Grand Rapids, MI is hiring for an Assembly role to assemble and test cylinders using blueprints and work instructions. You will read drawings, operate presses, and ensure parts meet quality standards.

The position requires a High School Diploma or GED and 1–2 years in manufacturing. Be able to lift up to 50 lb, stand for long periods, and work with a team in a production environment. Full-time, in-person employment with competitive benefits.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

• All production workers must be available in all production areas.

Description

Position: Assembly
Reports to: Shift Leader

POSITION SUMMARY:
Responsible for proper assembly and testing of cylinders by utilizing blueprints and work instructions.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

• Position parts according to blue prints and job cards
• Fastens parts together with bolts, screws, speed clips, rivets, or other fasteners
• Removes small quantities of metal with hand files and scrapers to produce close fit between parts
• Operates drill presses, punch presses, or riveting machines to assist in assembly operation
• Operates machinery to assist in assembly operation
• Verify finished cylinders are free of any defects (scratches, dents, weld spatter, etc)
• Performs quality testing according to work instructions to ensure cylinders are functioning properly.
• Report any issues or concerns regarding quality issues of cylinders.
• Keep and maintain production records
• Disassembles cylinders for salvage of parts
• Maintain work area and equipment in a clean orderly condition
• Follow all prescribed safety procedures
• Perform other duties as assigned

EDUCATION / EXPERIENCE:

• High School Diploma or General Education Diploma (GED).
• 1-2 years related experience in a manufacturing environment preferred.

SPECIFIC KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, LICENSES, CERTIFICATIONS, ETC:

• Must be able to read and interpret blueprints, drawings, follow routers, and job paperwork.
• Use simple math to perform basic calculations, and use basic hand held measuring tools, including tape measures, calipers, and micrometers.
• Be familiar with quality control principles
• Must be familiar with all the machines required to perform the tasks stated above.
• Able to perform basic set-ups on these machines and tools that are used in them.
• Be a team player and work well with others.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

• Must be able to frequently lift/push/pull objects that weigh up to 50 pounds.
• Must be able to stand the entire shift.
• Regularly exposed to dust, odors, oil, fumes and noise.
