Job summary

Actalent is hiring a Mechanical Engineering Technician in Bridgeport, CT. This permanent onsite role targets recent graduates and hands-on technicians to assemble, test, and improve complex mechanical and electro-mechanical systems for semiconductor manufacturing.

You will work with engineers and production teams, reading blueprints, performing mechanical and electrical tests, and documenting results. The position emphasizes problem solving, strict procedures, and continuous improvement.

Qualifications

  • Mechanical aptitude and a passion for hands-on technical work.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, technical drawings, schematics, and assembly documentation.
  • Experience using hand tools, measuring equipment, and troubleshooting techniques.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to follow established procedures and work effectively in a highly controlled manufacturing environment.
  • Basic computer skills for documenting work and navigating production systems.
  • Strong communication skills and a collaborative team-oriented mindset.

Responsibilities

  • Assemble, wire, inspect, test, and troubleshoot complex mechanical and electro-mechanical systems according to engineering specifications and established procedures.
  • Perform mechanical and electrical testing to ensure products meet stringent quality, safety, and performance standards.
  • Diagnose and resolve mechanical, electrical, and electronic issues using blueprints, schematics, technical drawings, and testing equipment.
  • Support manufacturing operations from assembly through final system testing to ensure on-time delivery of high-quality products.
  • Participate in prototype builds, pilot programs, and new product introductions as innovative technologies move into production.
  • Identify opportunities to improve processes, product quality, efficiency, and documentation.
  • Maintain accurate production records, technical documentation, and work instructions.
  • Collaborate with engineers, technicians, and manufacturing teams to solve technical challenges and drive continuous improvement.
  • Coordinate daily production priorities to meet schedules and customer commitments.
  • Support Lean Manufacturing initiatives, including 5S, Kaizen, and process optimization activities.
  • Maintain cleanroom protocols and ensure proper use of tools, materials, and equipment.

What You'll Do

What We're Looking For

Preferred Qualifications
  • Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Engineering Technology, Mechatronics, Manufacturing Technology, or a related technical discipline.
  • Internship, co-op experience, military technical training, or hands-on manufacturing experience.
  • Experience assembling, testing, or repairing mechanical or electro-mechanical equipment.
  • Familiarity with Lean Manufacturing, continuous improvement, or process optimization initiatives.
  • Semiconductor, high-tech manufacturing, cleanroom, or prototype build experience is a plus.

Job Type & Location

This is a Permanent position based out of Bridgeport, CT.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $24.00 - $26.00/hr.
