Job summary

Alfa Laval is seeking an assembled-operator to join our Richmond, VA manufacturing team. You will work with standard operating procedures and blueprints to assemble components, maintain a clean work area, and support continuous improvements on the production floor.

The role requires strong hand-eye coordination, the ability to follow detailed instructions, and a collaborative mindset to succeed in a fast-paced, safety-focused environment.

Responsibilities

• Use hand/power tools and follow SOPs.
• Receive daily work assignments and execute production per SOPs and blueprints.
• Report deviations to team leaders and update status boards.
• Participate in daily status meetings and propose improvements.
• Pursue Kaizen opportunities and 5S routines to reduce waste and improve efficiency.
• Learn new processes during downtime and support cross-training.

OBJECTIVE:

Putting components together to build finished products, requiring strong manual dexterity, attention to detail, and ability to follow blueprints/instructions in a fast-paced setting. Key duties include using hand/power tools, performing quality checks, documenting processes, maintaining a clean workspace, and collaborating with teams, often involving repetitive tasks.

_ Your shift schedule will be Monday through Friday, 2:00PM – 10:30PM, overtime as needed including weekends. _

_ Salary - 23.50 Hourly + shift .75 stipend _

BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF POSITION

• Accurate & Consistent use of Personal Protective Equipment (Safety Glasses, Steel Toe Shoes, Gloves, Uniform others as required by the specific process)
• Receive daily work assignments from the Team Leader / Team Manager and execute production with Standard Operating Procedures and blueprints as a base.
• Report any deviations (Safety, Quality, Parts, Equipment, etc.) to Status Boards immediately and update the Team Leader / Team Manager.
• Be active and engaged into the Daily Status Board Meetings by explaining the deviations and propose solutions.
• Review & suggest any improvements for the Standard Operating Procedures.
• Look into your own areas for waste (time, motion, transportation, inventories etc.) elimination opportunities and drive KAIZEN improvements.
• Engaged in daily & weekly 5S routines to achieve high 5S Standard and Sustain it.
• Constantly look for the cross-training opportunities within different manufacturing processes & better ways to add value.
• Use the downtime efficiently to learn the new processes & run improvements from the status board activities.
