Job summary

Eaton’s IS AER ITD division is seeking an Assembler II for the 1st shift at our Camarillo, CA facility. Core hours are 6:00am to 2:30pm with an hourly rate of $20.00. This direct hire role offers benefits that are active from day 1 and eligibility for Eaton Benefits.

Responsibilities include assembling and wiring subassemblies, interpreting blueprints, and supporting multiple departments as needed. Prior experience in aerospace/defense assemblies is preferred.

Qualifications

  • 1 year of experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • Must be a U.S. person for export‑controlled information access.

Job description

Eaton’s IS AER ITD division is currently seeking a Assembler II 1st Shift at our Camarillo, CA facility. The core hours are 6:00am to 2:30pm. The hourly rate for this position is $20.00 per hour. Salaries are based upon candidate skills, experience, and qualifications, as well as market and business considerations. This is a direct hire position with Eaton. What You’ll Do
  • Assembler role will assemble, fit, fasten, and install parts to form subassemblies.
  • Align, fit, assemble, fasten, connect, and install system components of military mechanical/electromechanical equipment.
  • Setup equipment to meet product standards for identification, shell painting, retainer loading, contact painting, wire cutting, riveting, contact crimping and contact hooding.
  • Weigh, mix and identify items such as inks, paints, adhesives, molding compounds, and potting materials.
  • Follow intermediate drawings and procedures.
  • Perform work with limited to no supervision.
  • Support cross‑training and support of other departments.
  • Manually load and/or machine load retainers into molded plastic inserts per work order instructions.
  • Bond loaded front inserts to molded plastic rear inserts per work order instructions.
  • Bond interface seals and grommet seals to plastic insert assemblies per work order instructions.
  • Rework and/or repair assembled parts and products according to engineering specification changes.
  • Read and interpret blueprints, illustrations, and specifications to determine layouts, sequences of operations, and follow procedures.
  • Position and align subassemblies in jigs or fixtures, using measuring instruments and following blueprint lines and index points.
  • Assemble and bond EMI rings to connector shell per work order instructions.

  • Apply identification stamping to various components and assemblies.
  • Paint components, as well as apply paint stripe markings to contacts.
  • Stage materials for shipment as required.
  • Prepare single and shielded wires for termination, crimp contacts to prepared wires, terminate simple cables to connectors, and load and operate heat‑treat and annealing ovens.
  • Soldering contacts and application of solvents and epoxies.
Qualifications
Required Qualifications
  • Must have a high school diploma or GED from an accredited institution.
  • A minimum of 1 year of experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • No relocation benefit is offered for this position. Only candidates residing within the immediate area of Camarillo, CA (50 miles) will be considered for this position.
  • This position requires access to export‑controlled information. To conform to U.S. Government export regulations applicable to that information, the applicant must be a U.S. person, defined as a U.S. citizen or national, U.S. lawful permanent resident (green card holder), refugee under 8 U.S.C. 1157, or asylee under 8 U.S.C. 1158.
Preferred
  • Prior experience assembling electromechanical or precision connectors used in aerospace, defense, or space applications.
  • Familiarity with AS9100, ISO 9001, or similar quality management systems and related documentation requirements.
  • Proficiency in reading and interpreting engineering drawings, assembly prints, wiring diagrams, and detailed work instructions.
  • Experience performing soldering, crimping, wiring, contact insertion, and cable assembly to aerospace workmanship standards (e.g., IPC-A-610, IPC-620, J-STD-001).
  • Strong understanding of FOD (Foreign Object Debris) prevention, ESD controls, and clean work practices.
  • Experience participating in internal audits, customer audits, or source inspections.
Position Criteria
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills – both verbal and written.
  • Ability to read, follow and understand verbal instruction, product/process specifications, drawings, and work orders.
  • Ability to lift 30 lbs. and handle components and assemblies using bending, reaching, and twisting body movements; in addition to use of hand tools.
  • Ability to recognize and inform supervision of assembly problems and equipment breakdown.
  • Good manual dexterity to assemble small and intricate parts.
  • Strong ethics, values and the ability to influence others’ decision‑making.
  • Must exhibit a high level of motivation, sense of urgency, and energetic approach to job duties and requirements.
