Job summary

Badger Meter is seeking a production assembler to join our Milwaukee facility. You will perform varied tasks across meter assembly, molding, and registration assembly, working with equipment like ultrasonic welders and molding machines.

You’ll follow workflows, test products, and ensure quality while maintaining a safe, clean work area. Ideal candidates have a high school diploma or GED and basic computer skills, with 0–1 years’ related experience.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED preferred; 0–1 years related experience preferred.
  • Ability to pass internal forklift and hazmat training is required.
  • Basic proficiency with computers required.
  • Basic math skills; reading, writing and speaking English preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Assemble meters and meters parts, test and package products following safety guidelines.
  • Operate injection molding and related equipment; monitor quality per specs.
  • Assemble and test electro/mechanical units and PC boards as needed.
  • Follow production schedules; maintain accurate manufacturing data and output.

What You Will Contribute: This position is responsible for overall assembly process, including building, assembling, testing, injection molding and packaging a variety of meters or meter reading technology products. The work is completed through manual assembly, utilization of various specialty pieces of equipment, or automated machinery. Employees regularly rotate through various workstations within their home department and occasionally work in other areas of the facility depending on workload and customer orders. Responsible for observing safe work habits and maintaining cleanliness of work area.

Meter Assembly:
  • - Perform a variety of operations such as assembly of meters, leak testing, meter testing, and packaging of meter products while following safety guidelines.
  • - Assemble products, following work instructions ensuring the highest quality products, meeting company product standards, production goals, and customer specifications and delivery requirements.
  • - Set up and operate meter accuracy and leak test equipment to determine acceptability of product.
  • - Operate computer to check schedules, obtain part drawings, set up work procedures and update manufacturing status of jobs.
  • - Work from dispatch lists or production schedules to obtain required daily output.
Molding:
  • - Perform a variety of tasks such as operation of plastic injection molding machines and perform secondary operations to molded parts such as degating, sprue removal and drilling.
  • - May operate and tend to multiple machines simultaneously.
  • - Follow work instructions ensuring the highest quality products, meeting company product standards, production goals, and customer specifications and delivery requirements.
  • - Check parts visually and with the use of inspection tools, gauges, and coordinate measuring machines to ensure parts meet specified quality standards.
  • - Operate computer to check schedules, obtain part drawings, set up work procedures and update manufacturing status of jobs.
  • - Work from dispatch lists or production schedules to obtain required daily output.
  • - Perform part counts and/or scale counts and prepare identification tickets for outgoing materials.
Registration Assembly:
  • - Perform highly varied register assembly, sub-assembly and test operations on electro/mechanical units.
  • - Fit and assemble PC board assemblies along with register sub-assembly into register housing for various specialty application registration devices.
  • - Work from simple assembly drawings, routings and standard procedures.
  • - Use equipment such as small arbor press, screwdriver, nut driver, hand soldering iron, ultrasonic welder and computer-run test equipment.
  • - Test assembled register for proper function and accuracy.
  • - Assemble cartons and packages registers/generators for distribution according to customer specifications.
Machining:
  • - May operate and tend to multiple machines simultaneously.
  • - Follow work instructions ensuring the highest quality products, meeting company product standards, production goals, and customer specifications and delivery requirement.
  • - Check parts visually and with the use of inspection tools, gauges, and coordinate measuring machines to ensure parts meet specified quality standards.
  • - Operate computer to check schedules, obtain part drawings, set up work procedures and update manufacturing status of jobs.
  • - Work from dispatch lists or production schedules to obtain required daily output.
  • - Perform part counts and/or scale counts and prepare identification tickets for outgoing materials.
  • - Load, unload and debur parts.

Education and Experience: High School Degree/GED preferred 0-1 years of related experience preferred

Qualifications: Ability to pass internal forklift and hazmat training required Basic proficiency with computers required Basic skills in math required Basic ability to read, write, and speak English preferred

Working Conditions: Work is performed in a manufacturing environment. Must be able to wear personal protective gear most of the day. Must be able to lift up to 60 pounds. This position requires good manual dexterity, coordination and stamina. Must be able to stand or walk for prolonged periods of time. Must be able to pass an audiogram test.
