Job summary

Smeal, a REV Group brand, is seeking a Mechanical Assembler Level 2 to contribute to the assembly of fire apparatus in our Snyder, NE facility. You will complete final assembly steps and assist the electrical team as needed.

The role requires basic hand and power tool use, reading blueprints and specifications, and the ability to work overtime. We value reliability, teamwork, and attention to detail in a fast-paced production environment.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Complete the overlay of the front and rear of body/cab.
• Install heat pans.
• Install brushed SST in hose bed and cap off.
• Prep and install swing-out and roll-up doors.
• Install the SCBA modules.
• Install tire chains.
• Install complex hose bed flor and dividers.
• Install exhaust systems.
• Fabricate all receivers.
• Meet production goals.
• Maintain a clean and safe work area.
• Initiate process improvements when able.
• Work in close proximity to customer, as needed.
• Operate any equipment or tools needed to perform the job.
• Assist other team members and departments as needed.
• Other duties as assigned.

Mechanical Assemblers Level 2 complete the final stages of assembly of the fire truck accessories and finishing touches. This position may also assist the electrical team with wiring of items such as lights.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily:

• Ability to perform all duties performed by Mechanical Assembler Level 1 and :
• Complete the overlay of the front and rear of body/cab
• Install heatpans
• Install brushed SST in hose bed and cap off
• Prep and install swing-out and roll-up doors
• Install the SCBA modules
• Install tire chains
• Install complex hose bed flor and dividers
• Install exhaust systems
• Install Austin trays
• Install rear cab overlays
• Fabricate all receivers
• Solve complex problems with minimal assistance
• Self-check work and inspect prior processes
• Meet production goals
• Maintain a clean and safe work area
• Initiate process improvements when able
• Work in close proximity to customer, as needed
• Operate any equipment or tools needed to perform the job
• Assist other team members and departments as needed
• Other duties as assigned

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

While performing the duties of this job, the associate is regularly required to stand and walk for extended periods of time and to use hands to finger, handle or feel objects, tools or controls. The associate frequently is required to talk or hear. The associate is required to reach with hands and arms, stoop, kneel or crawl over, under and around equipment. The associate is required to frequently work from a ladder or at heights up to 11 feet off the ground. May be exposed to vibration.

The associate must regularly lift and/or move up to 15 pounds frequently, move up to 25 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required include close vision, peripheral vision, color vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus.

SCHEDULE:

Hours depend on business and department needs. All positions are subject to overtime as needed. Overtime can be scheduled by adding additional days to the scheduled days for the week or by extending the hours worked. See a supervisor for information on overtime worked in a particular department.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:

This job has no supervisory responsibilities. The associate may be asked to assist in the training of new associates on specific duties.
